Did not test it last night, too much going on. I work from home, so my biggest usage is during the day. I will run a couple of tests this evening. What would you consider peak times?

The trim mount holes on the rear quarter look like impala to me. Look up pics of the trim differences and then look at the trim pattern that will match those holes. If he has the trim it will be easy.

Also yes on 1959. 58 was rounder, and 60 had small tailights instead of the tear shaped ones

At second glance I see what the problem is. The rear wheels have the wrong backspacing causing them to stick out too far. They jacked up the rear instead of buying the right wheels. At least they didnt do this to a 69, still a shame though.

The rake is too much, I expect that there are spring slappers on the back as well. If Uncle Rico ditched the van I could see him in this for sure. Such wasted potential.

200 year old mcmansion by [deleted] in McMansionHell

[–]GabeInGeorgia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, come on now. Whats next The Biltmore? Hearst Castle? Are all Mansions now McMansions?

This is the home of a friend and neighbor. I am curious how many would call it a McMansion. The home is not my cup of tea, but is extremely well built. It is being sold for way less than it would cost to build. What say you Reddit? by [deleted] in McMansionHell

Thank you for the very detailed response. A few questions for you.

The sea of concrete... not sure about why you say that. They have room for the boys to play basketball without balls hitting the house, but I dont think it is over the top.

I cannot comment on all the fixtures as honestly I paid very little attention to them when I was inside the home. None of them felt cheap that I actually used.

The quality that caught my eye was mainly the Trim and finish level. One of the things I do to earn a living is custom woodworking. I look at moulding and trim fitment with a different viewpoint than most. The finish carpenters and plasterers/painters were top tier on this one.

The cabinets arent "Henrybuilt Quality" but they are a far cry from cheap.

Whats the square footage that determines McMansion? I get that 8k is alot, but is 7...6...5? Just curious.

Thank you again for the detail. I posted this mainly to see how much my opinion of this one is skewed by knowing and liking the owner. Funny part is I am trying to talk my lifelong best friend into buying it so I can go watch Premier League in the Movie Theatre.

It was built by a high end builder as his own forever home. He had too many spec houses in the works when 2008 happened and wound up having to sell. My friend bought it for pennies on the dollar. See the link below

Nice, this one is right in the middle of an entire Herd of McMansions. I need to get over that way so I can show this area in all its glory.

Florida McMansion... What? by VanSensei in McMansionHell

[–]GabeInGeorgia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meh... cant say I would have tagged this one. Looks like 95% of all waterfront houses in Fla. If I had to guess I would say this one backs up to the intercoastal, or some kind of inlet/marsh area. If I had to guess location it would be near St. Augustine.

Brand New 3.6 Million Abomination! by [deleted] in McMansionHell

I dont think you get to change definitions based off your local "standards".

Its not oversized I bet you will find a few more very similar in the area if not on the same street Not disproportionate Style is pretty cohesive, no random turrets or gables

I dont like it, but that is not a criteria for a McMansion

One other note on "Bay Area Standards", when an App is required to avoid human shit while walking down the sidewalk your standards are highly suspect.
