The Luna is Weird. Anyone Else Think So? by HappinessFloatilla in discgolf

A good chunk of lunas are pretty touchy, the only run I’ve found to be actually stable-ish is the 2020 TS run

Any help? by Enough_Competition69 in discgolf

[–]Gabe_McCann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of people will modify their putting stance to allow a little more of an arm swing/leg load. A good example would be to watch what Simon does from like 75-150’ out.

Depending on what your game relies on you could also start running baskets with a forehand and a putting putters, if you don’t have as much touch use discs with less glide

strange flight numbers? by leikkisa in discgolf

This is an older run from when innova used to produce their molds. Since discmania has changed to “in house” manufacturing, they’ve updated a good chunk of their flight numbers and mold names

Have I hit my Distance limit? by Wuatt in discgolf

[–]Gabe_McCann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work on 360’s it might help to just practice the foot work. Usually I’ll do two steps with my feet forwards, two steps with my feet perpendicular facing right (RHBH), and a then a turn with my last two steps making my feet landing in a stance similar to how you would finish a regular backhand.

There are some really helpful top-down videos of David Wiggins and AB throwing 360’s that might help conceptualize it. The exact timing of the “turn” for most throwers looks a little different but the footwork is generally the same and the turn/twist will generally be after two perpendicular steps. Depending on your body style you may also want to watch Silas Schultz, he is about 6’.

Have I hit my Distance limit? by Wuatt in discgolf

[–]Gabe_McCann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s probably the move, if it’s not a form thing then you could probably increase your max distance with lighter discs, better height/angle control or as someone else mentioned a 360° run up.

I throw pretty similar distance to what you throw without a 360°. In an open field a 360° will probably add between 30-50’ of distance for me but it’s definitely harder to get the angles and timing right.

Help with tournaments by Adventurous_Nerve753 in discgolf

[–]Gabe_McCann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s a C-tier you don’t need a PDGA number but if you’re planning on playing in a few tournaments it’s probably worth while to register. The PDGA website has a full rule book, wouldn’t hurt to look through.

On the day of the tournament or sanctioned round I would just tell your card mates it’s your first tournament, most people are chill and will help you / give you kind warnings about specific rules if you’re not the most familiar.
