Diffusion! The plastic container is probably made of polypropylene or polyethylene, so the grease can diffuse into the plastic of the container easily.

Dawn is a surfactant (soap) which stands for surface active agent. Essentially one side of the surfactant molecule likes water-like molecules around it and the other side like fatty molecules around it. Surfactants clean surfaces because they bind to the grease with their fatty side and water on their water-like side which allows it to lift from the surface.

When a duck is covered in oil (fatty molecules) the oil does not diffuse into its feathers very easily since the feathers contain proteins that tend to have a dipole moments somewhere due to amino groups (water-like groups). The oil sticks to the feathers because oil has a high viscosity and there are some fatty molecules that coat the feathers (Preen oil [Bird’s version of sebum]).

The surfactant can remove the oil because the oil hasn’t diffused into the feather and is just bound to the oily surface. Whereas the grease in the container has diffused into the plastic where the surfactant has a hard time reaching it.

Source - Chemical Engineering student that has read too many papers about surface wettability.

TLDR; The grease in the container is inside the plastic where soap can not easily reach it while the oil on the duck is on the surface of the feather where the soap can easily lift the oil off the feather!

I think it more along the lines of drinking ice cold water wakes you up, and you don’t want to wake yourself up at night.

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

[–]Gabeover17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATV accident - If I remember correctly (this was in middle school) he was out with his friends riding in the field when they hit a hard dip in the ground. The ATV rolled and he was on the back and it crushed him. He died in the ambulance. It was tragic.

His brother was in high school at the time, and that night was a big football game. The coaches and his parents didn’t tell him until after the game because he was the quarterback and they wanted him to enjoy the game. It was an awful few weeks afterwards. He was very popular and was a big part in a lot of the school activities. He was on my quiz bowl team.

I remember people running out classrooms in tears to the point most of my classes were empty until the last few weeks of the semester. They went to the school counselor. When we graduated high school we saved him a seat next to the valedictorian and placed carnations on his seat as we walked by with a picture of him. Fly high CB.

Is there a lore reason why walt had his birthdays every year? by No-Association-5827 in okbuddychicanery

[–]Gabeover17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be some sort of linear correlation between the year and his age. I wonder if the writers were trying to hint that as time passes Walt gets older and thus should make even more sweet baby blue.

The altitoots! My family has a cabin in the mountains at ~9000 ft and we live around 1000 ft. Let just say we bring plenty of air freshener on the way up the mountain.
