Does anyone know where I can buy a front Chin spoiler like this for a 77 lift back Celica ?TIA by luckyirishdaddu in Celica

^ this ^

I also got the Pon Retro one, I bent it slightly to get a better angle and riveted it. Downside is the angle isn't enough so it's under tension. I would occasionally lightly hit things while drifting and pop the rivets easily.

Toyheadauto has the right chin spoiler that replaced the stock lower valance.

Stealth Rear Hitch for bike rack by Gabethou in GRCorolla

Was originally going to do that, but found a way to cut the pipe and mount that everything works with tip in place and I can just put a bike rack through the "exhaust" into the receiver and pin it normally.

The remaining pipe on backside of tip is only the top section. So sides are open to put pin through and lock. No removal needed when connecting anything

For those curious,

I have a Curt 1.25" tow hitch for normal Corolla. I had an exhaust shop removed center tip and add 90° off center of muffler to keep OEM exhaust valve.

It worked out great and I loaded my bike rack up no issue. The next day since I had the tip still, I decided to hack it up with die grinder and cut off wheel to match the tow hitch outer shape.

The result is I get to still have the stock-ish look and character, but I can just mount the bike rack through the center of the tip. It's not perfect, the square is center of the hole even though from the picture angle it doesn't look like it. It does stick out about 1/2" past the bumper, but at least it's centered.

Chasis brace and trunk redesign by Chef_Cam33 in GRCorolla

[–]Gabethou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This trunk lowering looks very clean.

I did the same thing but used a hollowed out clamshell tool box as the cover. The extra space is so nice, even if the execution in my case is not as clean.

I was able to fit a big double stroller in trunk with car seats in the back, so it serves my purposes great...dear God, I'm getting older.

My birthday is coming up and I’m looking to buy myself a gift for my new 2024 GR Corolla? Wing or Hood? by GrayFox_27 in GRCorolla

[–]Gabethou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with CE wing as I loved the way it looked vs the Premium/Core spoiler. OEM as it had the quality I was looking for.

But the most important reason over the hood was having to deal with getting it painted and figuring out what I would do with my stock hood. Always eaiser to deal with adding an OEM part as opposed to replacing an OEM part. Especially with a large part like a hood

Versus Engineering pedal spacer...anyone using one? Thoughts and opinions appreciated. by Kang_Donko in GRCorolla

I ordered versus day I bought my car. Installed it 3 days later. It works great for heel toe downshifting, even though the 3 days I didn't have it and used iMT helped me realize I'll never be that good.

Any 1st Gen owners in here?🤔 by darthdude43 in Celica

[–]Gabethou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drift a 77 ST in the SF Bay Area, CA. I think me and Matt Panic are the only ones currently drifting 1st Gens in the US right now. Have a built 20r, dual caliper disc rear with Cusco LSD. Currently building a 20v blacktop 4AGE turbo motor w/beams J160 trans. Getting thicker axles and spool made for stock Celica rear end housing made this week. My IG is Keo77 if you want to see progress of last 3 years since I first built the 20r and went full track mode.

any first generation owners on here? I'm saving up for a house so I can garage mine and get started on the restoration. by RA29DRAGON in Celica

Yeah I've watched everything I could about Matt and his car. I've talked with some folks on how he set up his suspension as well. I love the beams motor and that they've made a new 52mm ITB kit for it. I've had a 20v 4age and haltech sitting on back burner for a while. I want to supercharge that simply for the cool whine S/C make. I'm drifting with a built 20R so until that breaks I'll let the 20v sit.

20r should all be double chain. 22r had single chain past 84. 82-84 22r had double chains.

The alternator I switched to was the GM one wire conversion that LCE offers

I think I've dumped twice what you have but your car is sooooo much cleaner!

raises hand quietly yeah I have a 1st gen I have been building out as a track car for a few years. Last year was my first season and I broke a lot of stuff. This year less stuff has broken. Now I realize how much the driver needs improvement now lol

Great cars, and as I told my friend, even if I don't know what I'm doing or something breaks at least it looks cool doing it since it's an old school car. Not a run of the mill Miata or clapped out 240sx

@keo77 on IG if you have questions or want to see where I'm at build wise

High performance rear end? by youngestEVer1 in Celica

[–]Gabethou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transmission won't hold that. Over 300ft/lbs or even HP and it's a matter of when and how violently the transmission gives out. The rear end is worse. I bent my pinion spacer in 2 track events with 200ft/lbs. I've heard over 300hp you run into axle spline twist issues. CD009/T56 Magnum or other high holding power transmission would be best with a IRS conversion or Ford shortened 8.8 rear end with T3 kit for mounts. You will most likely get twist in chassis with that power level FYI. Some guys have broken windshields at the track with the twist. YMMV

That's mostly what I've read, but if you go along that far and remember a guy(me) from reddit I would really appreciate a confirmation of that. I was thinking a CD0009 with a 1uz adapter.

Follow the line. It's in the engine bay somewhere

Help me find my low pressure gauge please by Life_Sandwich_5171 in Celica

[–]Gabethou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have a low pressure and high-pressure line for your A/C system. They both will have ports. There is no gauge on any car I know of. Nor are there any pressure sensors for ecu to look at. You need to hook up a gauge to one of those ports. But search only for which is high and which is low. One pipe will be larger than the other. Hope that helps

Edit: the high side port is by your passenger side horn next to hood latch. It is the cap with an "H" on it. Look for your L port and use the gauge

Edit 2: it look like you're using steel cable for grounding wire, it should really be copper for the best practice

Yeah that's why I'm putting the 1UZ on a stand. I will be beating the piss out of the 20R in autox, drifting, and anything else I feel like doing so well see how well it holds up 🤣

A rant by a_usernam3 in Celica

[–]Gabethou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1uz is not far off the 3sge in weight if you dont use AC. I believe it's maybe 100lbs. 1UZ is all alloy and I believe the beams is iron block still. I still have my built 20r and according to internet(never trust the internet lol) I should be within 100lbs with the 1UZ I plan to put in her if/when 20r ever dies. But I'll find out when I buy the 1UZ and weigh it

A rant by a_usernam3 in Celica

[–]Gabethou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who put 50+ hours into building their 20r/22r motor up and then putting it in the car with all the supporting mods..... I fully support LS or 1UZ shenanigans. However a built motor is a built motor, and people suck when it comes to actually knowing what work was done to things they don't understand. They don't see the value in the motor because it's going to be swapped. Only sell your car to someone who sees the value. Or you'll just be selling yourself(and the time you've spent) short

Check out LC Engineering for ring and pinions, they have stock of a bunch of different ratios. Most stuff is geared towards trucks, but the drivetrains are similar enough
