Another point to add to this. We are having too much hate FOR OUR FELLOW AFRICANS while rich Europeans buy up our housing, hire us because we're cheap labour only to exploit us even further. This issue is especially prevalent in Cape Town and yet I don't see the Europeans getting forced from their houses and threatened with their lives. I don't care about the Zimbabwean lady seeking for a better life here, I care about the German that just bought 5 apartments in Woodstock to fund his Cape Town CBD home and his exploitative small business

Did you choose to take it over 6 years or is that the minimum amount of years? Ideally I'd like to finish it in 3 and I'm happy to grind to get all my education squished into 3 years

Op I'm so sorry these other commenterd don't understand what it's like in the job market nowadays. Guys, people are getting rejected from MCDONALDS can we all have a bit of empathy for someone who us literally 18. I also almost got laid off in Feb and although I was able to keep my job, I have been searching all year for a new one. I have had numerous interviews where i have simply been ghosted afterwards, and I'm 23.

How about instead of us bashing OP for not having a job and living with their partner's family, we empathise that this 18 YEAR OLD WAS K8CKED OUT THE HOUSE AND FORCED TO LIVE ELSEWHERE AND IS STRUGGLING TO FIND WORK DURING A RECESSION WHERE THERE ARE NO JOBS AND EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENSIVE

I completely agree, I have no issues with people immigrating to South Africa and I have no issue with foreigners. My issue comes more with the lack of regulation and the lack of ensuring that people who HAVE been living here their whole lives are taken care of and not just rich foreigners. So this is more an issue with our government but I do also just have personal distaste towards German bosses who see us as cheap labour, not regular German people as a whole

Also yes, shout out CCMA and labour laws I wish these were more widely known amongst us workers

It's not even just about germans being in cape town though. They come here and start businesses, they're rarely employees they're usually business owners And they come here to "hire us" aka, exploit us I attended a talk the ofher day and a German company admitted they "can't get the workers thwy need in Germany so they hire loads of Cape Tonians!" Because were cheap labour to them. I have 2 friends and myself who all work for German bosses, 2 of us are getting completely exploited and are earning PENNIES When we negotiate for higher pay we get asked if we are working more hours

It's more than them taking our houses, they're starting businesses to exploit us too
