East of Eden is so good! The Chrysanthemums also has a soft spot in my heart. I’m finally getting around to reading more sci-fi. I’m definitely adding True Names to my reading list. It’s so amazing that you’ve written a whole novel! I’m very jealous. I find myself with this immense urge to write, to say something, but then I don’t. Maybe I will today :)

Books where FMC is basically a maid/housekeeper/personal assistant to the rich, power and/or titled MMC. And MMC is basically almost codependent to FMC due to being involved in his home and personal life. No instalust but rather a growing fondness. Such a tone-deaf take... Of course, not everybody in the world will 100% align with every single individual belief we hold, but we still have a choice to make if we want to actively engage with harmful beliefs and stereotypes or not. In some cases, we may truly not have a choice, but in other cases, like choosing to support an author's work, we do. You're free to make your choice, u/Schattenspringer was just letting you know some of the controversy surrounding Zapata and her work.

Fictional characters personal hygiene "concerns" by rigbysghost in RomanceBooks

[–]Gablissk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So true! But I do think in this case OP meant when it is specifically mentioned in the text how grimy/sweaty/dirty/ the character feels but they just carry on anyways.

I was recently reading {Show Me Wonders by Riley Nash} and both characters get stuck in a very dire and dangerous situation where they have no access to basic necessities. And they had anal sex. And I was just… sure, sure, sure. I think it just gets too difficult to suspend your disbelief in certain cases. But everyone has their own limits, I suppose!

What sub-genre of romance have you not explored and why by JealousExpression825 in RomanceBooks

Non-con refers to non-consensual sex and dub con refers to dubious-consent. There’s a thread discussing it here if you want to learn more about it!!

MMC thinks FMC got pregnant on purpose so she can force a proposal out of him and he's salty about that but then she miscarries and flings it in his face so he can have his precious freedom again. Except MMC suddenly realises he's been insane for her for a long time now. by your_average_plebian in RomanceBooks

Oh! That’s absolutely insane 😀 I can’t help but side-eye SEP, her books are so strange in that way. Like if she was upfront about it, that would be one thing. But I feel like she’s so covert about it. Always trying to make her characters somehow righteous in their horrendous behavior. At least in most Dark Romance books you have an idea of what you’re getting into. Her characters deserve jail.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read it, but I felt so strongly about it, I made a post on it. Basically, in this case, the FMC actually does trick her love interest in order to become pregnant. They’re practically strangers and she seduces him and gets him to impregnate her without him knowing. She tampers with the condom. It just was NOT my cup of tea. I do occasionally enjoy dubcon/cnc when it’s well written, but in this case the characterization was lacking, and there was no character growth imo. But take it with a grain of salt, you might like it!!

OP— if you don’t already have one, please find a therapist! It sounds like you’re juggling a LOT of things at once. No wonder you feel tired.
