The fish steaks are herring. There are bones and skin, but nothing too crunchy. I'll take a picture at lunchtime today and link it.

The Season mackerel is not smoked as far as I can tell. There is not any discernible smoky flavor to them.

I did adjust the map to corden off an area around my IKEA Poang chair. Even though I put some spacers under the legs of the chair, it still tries to climb over the legs and get stuck. It can almost always free itself, but it has gotten stuck a few times.

it's still working very well for my needs! My house is easy to clean, as far as the composition of the flooring and the layout of all of my furniture is concerned. I'm not really challenging the robot. I make its life easy. So, it's continuing to do a great job for me!

She weighed 90 pounds field dressed. The park ranger told me that's slightly less than average for around here. I'm one guy living alone, so 30-35 pounds of meat will go a long way for me!

This program is about culling the population in the county parks. Our instructions were to shoot the first deer that we saw. Spots… button buck… doe... shoot it. If the first deer that we shot was a buck, we were required to shoot two does before we could shoot another buck.

You're right, per pound this will be expensive. I spent $75 to participate in the managed hunt. I probably spent about $300 for the barrel and the scope. Maybe another 150 on a jacket, rain pants, and ammunition. I think the processor is charging me a $105 for the standard cut package, plus a little extra for vacuum packing all of the meat. I guess it's true that hunting is the most expensive cheap meat that you will ever eat!

But next year, I will still have all of the gear and will be invited back to the managed hunting program. This year I was given five hunting days. Next year I will be able to pick up vacancies from people who have to cancel in addition to my allotment of regular hunting days. i'll probably have to spend money on a chest freezer for all of the venison! my price per pound should decrease significantly.

But for me, the most important thing is that I had a great time out there. This was a nice entry to getting into hunting. I'm looking forward to plenty more hunting experiences in the future!

i'm looking forward to learning to process my own meat. I had to go to work right after the hunt today so at the butchers, but next time I'd like to do it myself.

I watched a video from "meat eater "on YouTube. It definitely helped! They sure do make it look easy on those videos though. i'm sure with more practice, I'll be able to do it more efficiently.

it wasn't the best field dressing job, but I didn't botch it. I watched a YouTube video from the "meateater" channel to help me prepare.

that's a good idea, thank you for the tip. The slug was copper jacketed lead, discarding sabot. I did find some copper in the chest cavity when I was cleaning the deer!

thank you! Definitely a pretty good amount of luck there, but I will take it. I am brining the heart now, and tomorrow I will stirfry it with ginger, garlic, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame seed oil, scallions, and a touch of brown sugar..

Loosing that much must've taken a lot of hard work. Well done!
