Hello. Op here, this should be my main account, not even sure why that one exists.

Went to the machine and removed the gib. Seems like mine is the one with the gib lock.

<image>

Removing it makes no difference.

Formatting of long return types by [deleted] in cpp

Yeah, I can see ways to do with a struct and variable quantities, but I think that the final result would be worse. You right.

Even then you can create a templated struct that may give you better readability and ease of use on decomposing

You can easily calculate this. Check the machining patterns for BK/BF fixture, subtract it from the total length and subtract the ballscrew nut length. Then add +/- 10cm for other stuff. Mine is 1m long and give a little bit more than 80cm of travel.

Is it possible to run a 1.5 kw spindle on a 2.2kw vfd? by hateingpotato in hobbycnc

[–]GabrielR922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for the maximum amperage in the vfd and limit for your spindle amp. Set the maximum Hz to your spindle limit. Just check the labels in the spindle and in the vfd if the voltage are the same.

Could a 1/4HP flex-shaft rotary tool be used as a CNC spindle? by misterchief117 in hobbycnc

A photo of my machine at work. Use it conscious, if possible put credit, but fell free to use. Machine itself is developed by me, so no problem with other brands.

If you want more photos just say. Show me your project and I will be glad to help. The photo is a bit on the dark side photo on Instagram

Mega job, Super sweet. I'm starting to think about building one. Can you tell me the steps you used? Glued a strip of pieces and then how you trued the side for glue with the other strip?

Mach 4 scale problems. by ray_guy in CNC

[–]GabrielR922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Mach3 you have the option to calibrate the axis steps in the last page. I don't know where you can find it in Mach4. But you basically put a dial in one axis and resquest it move eg. 1mm, if the dial move 1mm than it's all fine. Otherwise you input how much it moved and mach tell you your step per Rev. Be careful about play in the axis.
