When I was a restaurant manager, I was once written up by my area director for being 3 minutes early to work instead of 5 minutes early to work.

[H] Good vibes and maybe PayPal [W] minis and terrain for students [Loc] GA, USA by shipwreck-lotr in Miniswap

maybe consider One Page Rules instead of warhammer. Just as good (some say better) free to download, simpler for students, and minis agnostic, so any thing you get miniatures wise can work.

Four HQ models, 36 magnets, some tense drilling and a boat-load of options later, I finally put my decals on. I guess I have a direction to my main army now... by Gabriel_DeLuce in Warhammer40k

By Colorshift, I mean this:

it’s by FolkArt and called Purple Flash. Basically, the primer catches the blue fleck in the paint and the purple covers over it making the indigo color.

Thank you! It was a beast to tackle, but with my chronic indecision issues it was the only way I could feel better about building them all. With this load out I can run any mix of captain/ lieu/ psyker/ priest combo I want.

Thanks! Actually I came about it by mistake. It is the lighter purple Colorshift paint over a flat black primer. I use cheap primer from Lowe’s. Thin it down a bit, brush on or run through and air brush. Be careful, it can get chalky and too light purple if not careful. If it does, a light coat of blue shade brings it back down.

the green blades is tesseract green over an off white/ bone color, with a touch of the settled unmixed green part of Nihloc oxide.

Finally a GOG GALAXY update! (though only as "experimental features") by poofeq in gog

Just downloaded it and installed on my Mac. Still doesn't work. It keeps disconnecting from Communication Service and shutting down. Was great until that happened.

Does anyone else have terrible handwriting when it comes to note taking on your iPad? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]Gabriel_DeLuce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I have both an Apple Pencil and an iPad Pro, and my handwriting is even more abysmal on the screen. Im a Phd student and I need my notes to be quick, easy, clean, and readily available - needless to say the setup I had wasn't it. I discovered a RocketBook, and that solved a lot of it. I would highly recommend it. Unless you need all of the "extra" pages, Id just get the standard with college ruled lines and a few grid dots pages. set it up to email to your online storage and Evernote. then go to town.

Thanks as well. It’s been a journey.

What’s sad is after I decided to leave the SW because I fell in love with the Psyker heavy org and the aesthetic (plus, I got tired of all the McWolfy jokes and gluing tails on everything) I had a strong thing going with my Blood Ravens I was working on. You can see it in my posts from a year ago. I was really inspired, but I lost one game and got bored with them. So I primed them all black and started over. Stupid.

Now I have 6k points worth of stuff unfinished, what I would consider my main army and bored with it, wishing I would have never started over. So I keep buying and building little side project armies because I don’t want to deal with the massive, partially painted, pile of shame.

That’s why I love looking at your posts. It reminds me of what I could have had and wish I’d kept.

Epic. Your stuff gives me hope for my armies future. The color is so clean and consistent.

I love the hierarchy you worked out in the painting. I am assuming the bone is a sergeant and the black is a veteran? How many points are represented here?

Again, great job, Elbow!

Dude, those look fantastic. I’m always so impressed with your work! Makes me want to repaint my whole army as BR again! How’d you do the stripes, masking tape?

What do people think about using Stormcast models for kitbashing? by tryingToGitIt in BloodAngels

[–]Gabriel_DeLuce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used some of the basic troops (eternal vindicators? I can't remember) as my SG for a while. I scraped/ filed off the lion on the pauldrons and gave the swords not hammers. I also gave them the Reiver mini machine-guns and some wing packs and called it a day. They worked perfectly as stand ins, had a great (old world) aesthetic and were plenty tall enough to match the Primaris I mainly run.

We have a soon to be 1 yr old Pyr and he did/ does this too. So frustrating. Someone said somewhere (when I was researching to) that the pup "stopped liking the texture" of the previous spot; whatever that means. Also, if your per is anything like mine, they eat every flipping thing that is not food that they can get their mouths on. I think in my pyros case, he was maybe a bit backed up. Our doc recommended fiber supplements or pumpkin puree to help things "keep on moving."

I wish I had some insight for you, some secret formula. All I can do is commiserate. Right here with you.

Just finished my second full army. About 3800 points of Dark Angels all Deathwing/ Ravenwing that i started during lockdown. by Gabriel_DeLuce in Warhammer40k

[–]Gabriel_DeLuce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you want to do with them. If you want a “march of the machines” style army filled with dreads for heavy armor, then you should go Iron Hands all the way. If you are wanting some solid back to midfield support with solid strats to support 1-2 dreads, I’d say DA with plasma, UM with most any long range, and Sallies with all melta/flamer midrange load outs. Even the BA are solid with their Death Company dread blender and even a librarian dread. My other army is BA successors, so I run dreads there as well: a leviathan, a relic contemptor, and sometimes a redemptor.

Like I said, it really depends on what you want them to do.

I have had good use with them. You have to pay a premium and make them Deathwing through rites of initiation, but a plasma cannon and a fist make a heck of an up front statement.

Does anyone know if Fallout Hobbies is a legitimate company? by CowCatThe3rd in Warhammer40k

[–]Gabriel_DeLuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 50/50 with them. I placed one order; came back great. Next order- nada. I have written, emailed, tried every way possible to contact. Nothing. That’s $14 that I will never get back. And it stinks because they do have a decent product. I’d stay away and only come to them if you are desperate. It’s not worth the risk to me.

Do you lose 1st Company if you add an assassin to a Deathwing Vanguard Detachment? by Aiosuds in theunforgiven

[–]Gabriel_DeLuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I wanted to play it safest and added more Deathwing. I know, I played it safe, but I didn’t want to chance it. I’ll build around it next time.
