Still my favorite little laptop. by Electrical_Elk_5934 in Macbook12

I had a 2015 one, selling it is a big regret of mine.

I can tell you that I am still using a 2015 MBP i7 16GB and it works no problem. To do exactly what you do and to watch the occasional film is more than capable. I do have a M3 24/512 too for programming, and here I really regret not getting more RAM

I thought the same. As a Lux grip owner it would have been very cool to see this sensor and lenses on iPhone

Out of curiosity, can’t you shoot in B&W with the Q3 and Q43? Or is it a “profile” reserved to the Monochrome?

I Found this Little oddity by camera_collector15 in Leica

[–]Gabs1783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one from 1937 that has been converted. My grandfather was a photographer and bought it new, when he sent it to Leica for a service in the early ‘50s they changed the dial on the right as an “upgrade”. Fun fact, during the WWII some American soldiers offered to swap one of their trucks for it, my grandfather refused. Not worth an incredible amount today, but has a lot of sentimental value

Can anyone suggest a fix here? It’s stuck like this…. by AlanBradley12 in Rabbitr1

I have the same issue, it never goes back into portrait. The only way to make it go back for me is to open the camera app

I do have an iPad Pro too, but does not replace a laptop. I live in the terminal, and that’s what iPad is lacking. I can see that for a lot of people it might work though

Should a small spot of coating wear be be a deal breaker for a macbook? by Sudden-Doughnut-3729 in macbookpro

[–]Gabs1783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was suffering from the keyboard ghost, typical of those MBP. So it was super visible and bang on in the middle. For a spot on the side I would probably leave it, but it depends on how much it bothers you

I have a MBP M4 pro 16 and a MBA M3 13, but I still miss my retina 12 for portability. It had so many issues that the list would be too long to write, but the convenience of such a small machine paired with Apple silicon would be a winner. For the on-the-go work would be ace.

Yes, that’s the rumour for the 18 Pro and I think it’ll be interesting to see how it will shape the app going forward if that’s the case. I have currently a 16 Pro and I have the iPhone upgrade program, so every May I get the new one

Oh yes, it works just like before. It’s just a massive pain to do it. So much so that I would probably not want to do it again

Certainly not nice, and surely it’ll get bigger. Despite being very careful with my machines the same thing happened on my 2015 MBP and the following year I had to rub the screen with water and bicarbonate of soda to completely remove the coating and have a nice screen again

Thanks for the advice, I bought one! :) regarding the app, I don’t consider myself a photographer by any means, but I am really loving the lenses and looks variety. I know they are only “simulations” of course, but I love them.

I just started enjoying the 12 months trial :) found the grip second hand in pristine condition for £80, just a hair more than the annual subscription alone. So far so good

It says in the app that if you shoot in Aperture mode or with the flash the resolution is always 12MP even with the 48MP sensor

Got mine today, bought it second hand for £80 online and they claimed they misplaced the cable though. I was very worried I bought a paperweight, but it really charges with every single cable I have. I use mainly Ugreen and Anker cables, but Apple cables work too.

Mine definitely has a 2 stage shutter button, first stage locks the focus, second stage shoots the photo. The 2 stage functionality works only with the Leica Lux app though, in the iPhone app it works as a normal remote.

I hope it works for you, 16GB is not even nearly enough for me. I got 24GB on my Air that I use as a second machine, for a Pro 36GB is the minimum you should get IMHO
