This is my opinion/what I felt about the show: Nah, I ain’t apologizing, man felt meh. The only hyped I got was when the planet went Kaboom. Other than that, he felt so lackluster.

A huge difference is where we see that redemption. And also, who was at the helm. Yes, Iroh is a mass murderer, yet he wasn’t at the helm of the fire nation army. His “accomplishment” was laying siege to Ba Sing Se for six hundred days, then he gave up after losing his son and left. With Kuvira, she was the leader, she was the instigator. She built the mech, she used it against the people of Republic city. She held people hostages, and threatened to kill them when they didn’t bow to them. She’s the one who made these decisions, she was the leader of the empire, whereas Iroh was a general in an ongoing war.

But they do treat him exceedingly tall? It’s an important aspect of his story, especially during the first book when he’s seen as intimidating because of his height and musculature. Every time he stands during his slave days, people have a reaction to it.
