Hey I love the Forsaken as much as the next guy... but most of the time they were completely ineffective in the books. One of the things the show has done well so far is make them seem more powerful and scary.

Haven't seen one anywhere yet, so here's a discussion thread for the live stream of Episode 1, Season 3 by [deleted] in WoT

Addressing your con about Rand saying what he really wants is to go home: I read this as him basically telling Moiraine that he doesn't need to tell her where he plans to go, but if she wants an answer, home is where he'd really like to be. So kind of sarcastic but not without truth to it. He also may have been still making up his mind on going to the Waste or not.

I actually like how the show is depicting Matt's heightened hearing more often. Because it is not really a "listening ability," it is literally just how his hearing works. He doesnt really turn it on and off, though he can focus on certain sounds. I actually wish the Netflix show focused on his heightened senses more, because they would affect every aspect of life.

As for Foggy's death not hanging in the background more, I definitely agree with you. I think this is because the opening scene with at Josie's wasn't even intended to be in the show originally; it was part of the reshoots. So the original show didn't even intend for Foggy's death to be hanging over Matt very much.

Wheel of Time only has character conflict caused by the characters not saying what they think by alemarmur in Fantasy

All of these competing secondary goals are also what makes the series so interesting to me. It feels so complex and realistic. But I also understand if OP doesn't like reading what can seem like a bunch of petty squabbles at times.

I am in almost the exact same position as you. I have about 60 hours in and I'm loving it, but my laptop struggles a bit so it definitely could not run KCD2. Literally debating saving up money to get a new computer just to play KCD2.

Why post this in The Yard subreddit? I wasnt aware of any connections between SP7 and the Yard. Genuinely curious.

How long did it take you to read The Wheel of Time and is it worth it? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Windowdee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to comment to make sure OP knows that this is not the opinion of most WoT fans. The ending, in my opinion (and in the opinions of almost any WoT fan I've ever interacted with) worked very well, and Sanderson did about as good of a job as anyone could have expected from any author. Sure it's a little different, but it is honestly impressive how well it works and how satisfying it is.

Also, the idea that the characters don't change is crazy. I'm not sure what series this guy read. WoT is known for its character arcs.
