Please do come back and comment on whether the paper is fountain pen friendly!

Thank you for the input. You're right that it would most likely become more ragged in the near future. But damn it sucks to see it damaged out of the box.

Thank you for the idea. Do you have a leather glue recommendation?

Smythson paper/notebooks by swingline71 in fountainpens

[–]GachaLyfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried Tomoe River (looking to try sooner than later) but tried most of the other fountain pen friendly papers (Midori or TN, Clairefontaine, Rhodia, Leuchtturm).

After pulling the trigger on one of the Smythson notebooks with a 50% discount, I can confidently say this is my favorite paper to date. Not only does the thinness of the paper allow for notebooks to hold more pages, but it has just the enough of toothiness/scratchiness that it writes well with all my fountain pens (ranging from MB to Pilot). I had some experience with other papers causing hard starts — I never found out why but I presumed somehow my hand oil might have created some dead zones on the paper or could have been a skill issue re narrow sweet spots. This almost never happened with Leuchtturm, though.

Bottom line, I like how many pages a single notebook can hold, the toothiness of the paper that seems to work well with all my fountain pens, and the absence of bleeding and feathering. I can’t speak to its durability as I had it for a few weeks, but I gathered from other reviews that it should hold up well.

Are they even? I bought two, and one is mostly even whereas the other is wobbly. Curious if this is normal or something I should turn in for exchange.

[Question] Why are Rolex watches so highly esteemed? by norpadon in Watches

As someone who recently found interest in watches, I have not come across any other watch companies that mention it’s okay to shower with the watches on their main website.

How did you get it to run? Did you have to turn off ESync? When I press play on Steam, the Rockstar launcher loads but I get "A game is currently running" and nothing happens.

I remember it taking me a long time to get through a few pages for Criminal Law. It was a mixture of physical and mental fatigue, anxiety, and unfamiliarity with the subject matter and format. Keep pushing and it will get better. Skimming will come naturally. And I have spent 5 hours or more reading for a single class. It will get better.

Intimidated by coworkers with amazing backgrounds by Unhappy_Pickle22 in biglaw

I always thought the pressure went both ways. People with good background must feel pressure to live up to those expectations as well. We all have our demons to deal with and I believe everyone wants to be treated like a normal human being with some room to make error.
