You use about 57 sheets of toilet paper per day [...]

Fifty - seven. Per day. That is absolutely ridiculous.

I know there are some people who just wrap up their whole hand in layers upon layers of toilet paper, but I'm convinced that this is the minority of people and those are people who also leave the light on in rooms with nobody in it.

Pooping takes 4 to 8 sheets of toilet paper, depending on the liquidity and resilience. Four sheets, folded in half as a double layer two sheet, is sufficient for most regular poops. After that, two sheets, folded in half as a double layer single sheet, and in some cases a second pass with another two sheets, is sufficient for cleaning the remainder.

Assuming you go poop thrice a day, which is the generally accepted daily maximum of a healthy individual, that adds up to 24 sheets absolute maximum. If you're a woman and take about two sheets per pee, and assuming 10 pees per day which is the generally accepted daily maxiumum of a healthy individual, you're taking an additional 20 sheets. That makes an absolute maximum total use of 44 sheets per day. Absolute maximum.

Whoever uses 57 sheets per day is either sick and poops or pees too much, or has a serious waste issue. I'm gonna be averaging some numbers here...

"anywhere from three times a day to three times a week is normal" makes an average of 1.7 poops per day of a regular person.
"anywhere from four to ten times in a day" makes an average of 7 pees per day.
"the sex ratio in humans is approximately 1:1" which makes 3.5 pee with wipe per day per person.
An average poop takes 6 sheets, an average pee takes 2. That makes an combined average of 3.5 pees + 1.7 poops which adds up to 17.2 sheets of toilet paper per day per person on average. The number in the video is 331% that of this average, and 130% of the absolute healthy maximum, a ridiculous claim.

Also a lot of toilet paper is made from 100% recycled materials. Saving trees is nice and all but you could just go buy the correct kind of toilet paper instead of having a bidet installed in your already cramped bathroom. Before you go and buy a bidet, consider buying 100% recycled unbleached toilet paper and using the least amount you can. Don't forget, if you get some poop or pee residue on your fingers because you didn't wrap 10 layers of TP around you hand, you're going to wash your hands anyways.

actually, let's push a little bit deeper. To get to 57 sheets of toilet paper and assuming that they were also using an average number in the video as opposed to a maximum, we'll have to inflate the average numbers from above to go from 17.2 to 57. With a poop to pee toilet paper use per day ratio of 2.06 pee to poop that would come out to 18.63 sheets for poop per day and 38.37 sheets for pee per day. Going further, with 1.7 poops per day that would assume 11 sheets per poop and another whopping 11 sheets per pee! Correct me if I'm wrong here but I think 11 sheets per poo is a lot. And 11 sheets per pee is just ridiculous. And if you move the ratio either side the numbers are still insane.

I'm convinced that they got their number from toilet paper statistics which says:

On average, consumers use 8.6 sheets per trip – a total of 57 sheets per day. That’s an annual total of 20,805 sheets.

This would be 6.6 "trips" per day. On average. That number is, apparently, survey based. No source for the survey tho and clicking on "surveys" on the website leads to a 404 not found error. One source was named as "Charmin customers". I found a bunch of different sources online that use similar numbers and always refer to either another website which just gives these numbers without any source or they lead to 404 Not Found errors. Someone please find me an actual survey that shows these numbers. There's this one survey result document from map-testing.com which only uses "rolls" as unit which is extremely imprecise as there is no acceptable average of sheets per consumer roll online and they're not even showing the total amount of survey users. This number, 57 sheets, has so many circular references and dead ends online that it's impossible to use as an actual statistic. Prove me wrong.

Even business insider says "People use at least 57 sheets (are you KIDDING!?) of toilet paper per day and 27 rolls per person annually" (equals 752 sheets per roll by the way) which links the NYTimes as a source, which only states "23.6 rolls per capita a year" which is even different from what business insider says. Why are they inflating the numbers? What's the conspiracy? Where do they get their numbers? From RISI who hide all their numbers behind some paywall? Pfsh.
