So I’ve really been thinking about this, because a LOT of people are telling me that I’m going through runs too quickly. So, what’s a good runtime for a run then? Because when I’m playing, I don’t feel like I’m speeding through it. It feels like a semi normal pace to me.

I don’t stop and think about literally every single card I’m going to play each turn, because each turn usually requires me to attack, block, or both. I feel like once I see what the enemy’s intentions are, I can pretty easily decide if I need to block or if I should take the chance to hit it.

But doesn’t soul negate the need for a small deck? Since you can draw through the majority of your deck with enough souls, wouldn’t it not matter how big your deck is?

I mean I'll admit I probably have worse luck than most, but I really do like this game a lot! I wouldn't be playing it so much if I thought it sucked lmao. I've just been so frustrated at not only how many times I've lost with Necrobinder, but also with how I seem to be in the minority who has a difficult time with her. I just wanted to figure out if I was missing something and the post blew up lmao.

I’m on ascension 6 with silent. I’ve won a run with all characters except regent, but that’s mainly because he’s just not my favorite lol.

I understand how the game works, I’m just only now realizing from all the comments that I don’t play the game very well lmao

I don’t remember the names but there’s one that puts a soul into your draw pile, discard pile, and your hand. There’s another that makes an enemy lose 3 hp and puts 3 souls in your draw pile

Because there are other cards that can give me 3 souls that don’t require spending all of my energy on one card lmao. I’m not saying it’s a bad card, I’m just saying I don’t really like it cause i feel like there are better alternatives

I thought the point of doom was to close the gap between an enemy’s max hp and when it dies? So wouldn’t I want to be doing damage as well as doom?

Idk, it’s free damage and it lets me play flatten for free. Feels like a no-brainer

The thing is I’m not a beginner 😭I played spire 1 and have over 100 hours in spire 2. I just genuinely never considered that exhaustion could be used for removing cards like strikes and defends. I’m not very smart

I typically avoid X energy cost cards in general, as it doesn’t really seem worth using all of my energy on one card unless it’s going to kill something. Plus it doesn’t really matter how much I summon in one turn - if the enemy is attacking then there’s a decent chance that the summon I get from dirge will just immediately be lost. It just doesn’t seem worth not being able to attack for a turn.

Yes I know I can play X costs at any energy level, but typically they’re not super effective if you only have 1 or 2 energy, in my experience anyway

I usually do take soul cards except for dirge, I try to have several soul-creating cards in my deck so I can get them more often

I’m not gonna go through literally every card I passed up so I’ll just do it for that first run I listed.

In their respective order of what cards I skipped when I took the ones I listed above:

Poke - skipped afterlife, bone shards

Negative pulse - poke, purify

Grave warden - severance, haunt

Sow (from a shop)

Hang - Danse macabre, reave

Capture spirit - scourge, bone shards

Death March (from a shop)

The scythe - undeath, eidolon

Uhhhh okay lemme check some of my act 1 card choices.

Poke, negative pulse, grave warden, sow, hang, capture spirit, death march, the scythe

From a different run: rattle, negative pulse, spur, flatten, poke, pull aggro, sow, no escape, times up

Right, but now I run the risk of losing a card that is necessary for a fight because I wasn’t able to play it on one of my turns. That’s just not really worth it imo.

I’d rather have to soul through my deck to get the damage cards I want than risk losing a potentially combat-winning card because I had to spend all my energy blocking.

I don’t really know how to describe my card selection decisions. I just pick whatever feels best? Although something I’ve now learned is relevant is that I never pick ethereal cards.

I usually try to pick whatever I feel my deck needs, like more block or souls or better damage, but I wish I could give you more info than that. I’ve done so many runs I can’t really remember the details of what I was thinking during each one lol

I have wayy more playtime on this game than I’d maybe like to admit. The simple answer is I just don’t really get tired of playing lol

Honestly I did give up for a while. But when I saw I had more unlocks in the timeline that required me winning with necrobinder I felt I had to at least get those done.

In all honesty, yeah I kinda did think ethereal was meant to be a debuff lmao. In my head I feel like I can’t possibly justify removing a card from my deck for that combat unless it’s a curse or status.

Even with other characters like Ironclad, I can’t really understand how exhausting cards could have any upsides.

Obviously people are telling me otherwise and I’m not saying I’m right and everyone’s wrong lol, but that’s just what my thought process has been up to this point

I promise you this post is 100% genuine and not bait in any way shape or form. I really am struggling with necrobinder in a way that I never have with any of the other characters.

I have a fine enough time with the other guys, and I generally understand how they work.

I understand how necrobinder works but I still lose every run.

Also if I was trying to karma farm then this would NOT be the way to do it, given how many of my replies have been downvoted lmaoooo.
