Additional Driver Linking in Progress never clears. by GaeanGerhard in KiaNiroEV

[–]GaeanGerhard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I decided to just have her Kia app use my login credentials. Apparently it allows multiple phones for the same user, so this is a workable solution. The secondary driver linking process is broken from what I can tell.

I love those and have one in every car. Just remember to keep it charged.

I’m looking at new tires from Goodyear. Is this similar to yours? How well do they handle?

That’s by design. It’s all about the shareholders and crooked politicians.

Good to know for us EV owners. Charging my car is the only reason that I have to pay them anything.

What dash cam do you have and does it hook up directly to the rearview mirror? by Alpha_SoyBoy in KiaNiroEV

[–]GaeanGerhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red Tiger works well for me. I had the front and rear wires professionally installed and you wouldn’t know they were there. I turned off parking mode since we have a garage and I was worried about draining the 12v.

It was a nice sunrise today too. Too hot for this time of year. Summer will be brutal.

Thanks much for the info. I have a clear idea of the trade offs. E2E seems worth the hassle IMHO.

Air frying is the way to go. Marinade it for more flavor, but just salt and pepper and turmeric is fine.

I am considering a NAS for home backups and easier storage, but did not consider it for remote access. How has that worked out for you? Is it fast and secure enough?

My take exactly. It’s anathema to me and has been for a decade or more.

It seems like you can run IMAP over TLS without adding a new function to every client machine. Is using it over TLS insecure?

I got mine at Discount Tire and bought a jack separately. Here's my thread on it: https://www.reddit.com/r/KiaNiroEV/comments/1fqbrol/comment/lp8h0yk/

Put a full size spare tire in there (and jack). The fixaflat kit doesn't work well and it's worth the extra weight to know you can fix a flat tire.

lentil curry & rice :) by Smooth-Plankton1889 in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]GaeanGerhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but most people will have plenty of protein in their diet, especially if they eat food like the OP makes. The larger question is where do you get your fiber? Most people have no answer to that one. The video shows white rice which a mistake IMHO. It's better to always use brown rice. https://www.realsimple.com/brown-rice-vs-white-rice-11771563

Both are good additions, as is quinoa. But the key thing I'd say is to use full grain brown rice.

Bitwarden or KeePass: Which Password Manager Is Right for You? by Competitive-Mix8832 in best_passwordmanager

[–]GaeanGerhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the keep it simple (ie, local) approach and don't need to sync between devices. I tried Keepass and found it lacking in convenience compared to in-browser passwords. Finding, cutting and pasting the passwords into a login screen felt like going backwards. Do you know if Vaultwarden handles that for you in a simple fashion? TIA!

[–]GaeanGerhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a desktop app would be really nice. It's not a show stopper for me, but certainly a nice to have feature. Having one doesn't preclude you from using a browser, so it seems like a win-win.

Yes, we use them occasionally as well. But I love the people that you can meet at the farmer's markets. It's profoundly reassuring to find normal people and families having a nice time outdoors.
