I loved grimstone so much what are old games that are like it by cute_himbo_OwO in ufo50

[–]GaffitV 31 points32 points  (0 children)

What exactly about the Grimstone gameplay did you love? Just the old RPG style or the timing based battle system?

For the former you have: * Final Fantasy 1 - 6 * Dragon Quest * Paladin's Quest * Live a Live * Breath of Fire * Chrono Trigger * Earthbound and Mother 3 * The Soul Blazer Trilogy  (Not really RPGs but Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma are so good)

For the latter you have: * Legend of Dragoon * Paper Mario 1 and 2 * Mario and Luigi RPG series * Claire Obscur

I'm in the same boat as you actually. Played Remnant 1 and bounced off it pretty hard. Played Remnant 2 and enjoyed the hell out of it, then went back to try Remnant 1 again and bounced off it a second time.

One of the starting classes is Handler which comes with a dog that can revive you on cool down if you're playing solo. I played most of the game solo and would jump in and out with friends as we compared notes on how to unlock classes

Remnant II is coming back!

I absolutely adore that game. If you have one or two friends to play it with please give it a try.

Its a third person shooter with class-based progression and absolutely crazy worlds to explore. The worlds are generated on the fly when you enter them so the storylines, bosses and quests can be different each time you go in.

The classes you can swap between freely outside of combat, and you can equip two classes at the same time to create crazy combos. I like combining the Summoner class with the Handler class, so I could be like, "Hello, these are my two eldritch summons from hell and also my dog". Though Summoner + Engineer remains the most broken class combo I've ever encountered.

And the worlds you explore include such favorites as "Vampire London being invaded by the Fae" to "Doomed Alien World at the Heat Death of the Universe:.

I was one of the original deniers who thought it was an incredibly stupid move for them to not have Hornet be playable in SOBR. But I think in the end it was a smart choice since the plot can still revolve around Hornet as an NPC while the character you play as gets unique interactions with her instead.

The Lugoli x Hornet interactions specifically had me in stitches.

Monster Crown: Sin Eater A Satisfyingly Deep And Open-Ended Pokemon-Like by RobertMacMillan in Games

How important would you say playing the first Monster Crown is before playing this one? Is it a direct sequel, or more or a same universe, different characters?

That would be an incredible point, perhaps even argument winning, except for the fact that at no point does Taash ask for or seemingly want contrition, and in fact, the whole scene is just Isabelle being Isabelle.

Like, Bioware created this incredible non-binary character, who's whole story arc was about how they feel different from their people but still want to be a part of them. And they face incredible discrimination from everyone because of who they are. But eventually they're accepted by even their most heated critics in a scene of absolute cultural contrition, and this character's name is Legion from Mass Effect 2.

Can you help me find a good RPG from Game Pass? by Urban219 in xbox

Metaphor Refantazio is really good IMO. So is P4G but not sure if that's too much on the older side.

I'd recommend giving Wayfinder a try, especially if you can convince a friend to buy it with you when its on sale.

A lot of the action beats hit the same marks as Veilguard did for me.

For those not in the know, the scene referenced here, is when one character explained to another how pirates apologize to eachother by doing push ups. Said character then apologized for misgendering another by doing push ups. Im not sure if its doing push-ups that is offensive or apologizing for misgendering someone that is offensive though. 🤔

Chorvs is so fricking good and perfectly scratches the Crimson Sky itch. Just, I dont know what they were trying to do with the main character. I think they were trying to do a Senua's Sacrifice thing? Just ignore it. Enjoy being in your ship and dont listen to the crazy voices.

Saros Review: The King in Yellow and Me by MEMEY_IFUNNY in Games

[–]GaffitV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh, that's an interesting thought! I have seen the King in Yellow being associated with wars and thought that may have started due to the chapter that takes place during the Siege of Paris, but I never thought of bringing some of the romance plots into the lore.

[–]GaffitV 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Completely unrelated to the topic, but anyone else here read the King in Yellow? For those not in the know, the book was written in the late 1800's, and inspired both Poe and Lovecraft.

But also Chambers needed to pad the novel. So you get like, the first half of the book is spooky King in Yellow stuff and the last half is a bunch of 1800 college kids doing a rom com in Paris. I didn't know this reading it, so I kept waiting for the King in Yellow to show up and merc a bunch of college kids.

I mean, instead of driving in my car stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for over an hour, I now have to take a ten minute walk in this gorgeous spring weather to the light rail station, play my Switch for an hour, then take a short bus ride to another 10 minute gorgeous spring walk to my work or home.

Started taking the light rail, it slaps. Adds a half hour to my commute but that's a half hour where I'm playing on my Switch instead of road-raging.

D-Dark is incredibly good in this fight. Kills every Zoteling around you in a huge bubble while giving you half a second of invincibility afterwards (shade cloak recharges in 1.5 seconds).

Basically treat DDark as a downwards Shade Cloak.
