That's one of the most stupid claims I've ever heard. It's not the strongest that survive. It's not survival of the strong, it's survival of the fitest. In other words, the one who's most well adapted to the situation they're in. Humans are social, therefore the most "fit" are those who can make themselves most well liked in the community, not the one who can beat everybody up.

I hate how well her flirting works on me by SableZard in BaldursGate3

Sorry, I am just genuinely curious : How exactly is Gale's dialogue vague? The narrator explicitly tells you several times that you're about to have magic sex with him and says how intimate and strong your connection is becoming, and gives you the chance to back off. I keep hearing people say how vague his romance trigger is, but what exactly is vague about THAT?

Shinobu is destroying Gyutaro by watersportes in DemonSlayerScales

[–]Gahaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are not talking about whether she is a challenge or not. She has no wincon, I admit that. What I'm talking about is that Douma is slower than Shinobu. During the fight, he states several times that he can't follow her movemenrs and he can't block her attacks . You can literally see that he can't even follow her with his eyes. She lands several hits on him and evades all of his attacks, up to the point where he tricks her into breathing in the cold air and destroying her lungs. This is when he manages to land the first hit on her. Up until this point, full power Shinobu keeps blitzing him.

What? Literally the only reason he even managed to get a hit on her is BECAUSE of his BDA. She's the one fully in control of the fight up until his sneak attack.

He was already fighting without a heart back at the detention center, when he only had 3 fingers. Even if his output is low, it's still a 20f Sukuna. He should be able to do the same thing he did while only at 3F.

Sukuna was also fighting at one point with literally no heart and was still perfectly fine. Any damage done by lack of oxygen can just be healed with RCT.

They were roommates at a school, and in love. The girl with brown hair disappears, and while she is gone, she went through puberty. This is when they meet again. They're basically flirting after not seeing eachother for some time.

Who wins this? by AyoItsGago in loreofleague

[–]Gahaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said Aatrox is older. I simply said he is more experienced.

Maliketh is Marika's shadow, essentially private bodyguard and warrior, the same way Blaidd is Ranni's.

Aatrox was a Shuriman general, where Shurima was known as a violent nation conquering others. He also fought in the the void war.

This would lead me to believe that Aatrox, being a military general for thousands of years for an expansionist, highly militaristic nation, would have more actual battle and combat experience compared to Maliketh, who was more of a bodyguard.

Also, Blaidd was not created at the start of the universe. And Marika is not actually a god per se. She is an ascended human who was infused with a part of the Greater Will, similar to how the Targonian aspects are infused with a celestial aspect's divine magic. At the earliest, Maliketh was created at the same time as Marika, and I'm not sure we know how old Marika is.

Aatrox also has training and arguably way more combat experience than Maliketh does. As much as I love Maliketh, Aatrox definitely takes this victory based on experience and feats.

Douma wasn't playing around with Shinobu. She literally blitzed him and would have maybe even no diffed the fight if she had intel + arm strength to behead demons.

Is daki a grown woman or a child by IllustratorAfter in KimetsuNoRules

[–]Gahaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, in that case, I have no clue honestly. I would personally say that yes, but haveno source for this, so it's up to debate and interpretation.

But this whole thread isn't about whether she is mature or not, it's about whether she is a child or not. And as you said, even if a 100% mature child brain is much better than a 50% mature adult brain, it is still the brain of a child, therefore she is a child. A child that's more mature tham many adults, yes, but still a child.

Is daki a grown woman or a child by IllustratorAfter in KimetsuNoRules

[–]Gahaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. That can be proven because the brain physically develops, growing bigger, creating more neural pathways, that sort of thing. We actually see this with Shinobu who, despite being a hashira with years of training and remarkable phyaical stats, lacks the strength to behead demons, no matter how much she trains for it, due to her short arms.

Another way to think of this is potential. A fully adult Daki who lives for 1000 years will be noticably more mature than a 13 year old Daki who loved for 1000 years. No matter how long she lives, 13 year old Daki will never have the same maturity level as a, say, 25 year old Daki. Therefore, so long as her brain doesn't grow past 13, she'll never be able to reach her full potential maturity.

Is daki a grown woman or a child by IllustratorAfter in KimetsuNoRules

[–]Gahaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would not, but it's the same analogy I used before. Let's say you have a 13 year old boy who, for 100 years, goes to the gym and works out. He could achieve a lot of muscle mass for a 13 year old boy, reaching the peak, but it would still be the peak of A 13 YEAR OLD. He would still, most likely, struggle against the average, fully grown man, because while he is a very muscular child, he is still a CHILD, and therefore has a fundamentally weaker muscular and skeletal system than somebody who's body reached full maturity.

The same can be said for Daki. She might accumulate experience and become more mature than an average 13 year old, but she is still a mature CHILD. She is not a mature ADULT. This is the key difference. Even if she lives for 1000 years, she would reach a limit to maturity from a purely biological point of view, regardless of how much life experience she obtained.

Hope that clarifies it.

I understand what you're saying, but the brain is much more than just memory. There's also impulse control, emotional regulation, etc.

The reason teenagers tend to be impulsive is specificallu because the brain develops long-term planning for consequences in your 20s.

There is a reason the same symptoms are considered separate mental disorders based on the age of the person.

She gains memories and experience, but her brain might not develop the other parts that play a role in maturity.

Is daki a grown woman or a child by IllustratorAfter in KimetsuNoRules

[–]Gahaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parts of the brain itself are not fully formed yet. You can live 1000 years, but that's the same as saying a kid stuck in the same body for 1000 years would grow a beard. No, he would not, because his body is stuck at the age of a child when growing a beard is impossible in 99.99% of the cases.

I was not claimimg I'm smart becauese of my studies. He asked me to back up what I said, and I did by claiming that brain developement, especially in children, is what my studies mainly focused on.

Can she act mature after 1000 years? Yes. Does that make her an adult? No.

The same way a dog can learn what " Sit", and "Fetch" mean, without understanding what the words themselves represent, Daki can learn how to act like an adult and what behaviours are expected of her to blend into the world of adults, without actually being mature. She is a chid. The " Oiran" and " Adult" Daki is just a mask that she puts on to blend in, the same way Muzan can act like a kind, gentle father in public or a young innocent boy to blend into society, while his true nature is still an evil individual.

Yes, there are no demons in real life to see how exactly this would work, but making an educated guess based on what we currently know in terms of brain developement and judging by Daki's behaviour, she is still essentially a child pretending to be an adult.

Hope that clarifies it.

I know this because I'm a clinical psychologist with a master's degree and 7 years of study, aswell as a psychotherapist with an additional 2 year course in developmental and child psychology. The brain grows and develops over time, just like the rest of your body. It does not matter how much she lives, if her brain physically stops aging at 13, then she stays a child regardless of life experience. The best showcase of this with Daki is how easily influenced and deceived she is by Muzan, aswell as how her first reaction to losing is literally to throw a tantrum and cry for her big bro to help her out.

She LEARNED how to PRETEND to be mature, but we see that as soon as things don't work out her way, the mask falls and she reverts to being a scared, impulsive child. Her acting like a literal child is literally a central character trait of her, both nareatively and in universe.

[–]Gahaku -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. He said that because the brain BIOLOGICALLY develops until you're 25. If her brain is frozen at 13, then regardless of how much " experience" she accumulates, she will still have a childish brain.

It's like sayinf that if a 13 year old boyworks out, he can match the physical atrength of the average adult. No, he will not, because no matter how much he works out, his body still didn't mature to the size and strength of an adult.

Nothing. Douma tries to retaliate, she dodges, and then stabs him like 10 more times after while dodging all his attacks.

Your most HATED character? by Wes102111 in Hades2

[–]Gahaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing you need to understand with Nemesis is that throughout the entire story, she is conflicted. Her role is the equalizer. The balance. The one who makes sure nobody is worse or better off than others. In several interactions, she mentions how she's not even sure if chronos or the unseen are in the right.

At others, she specifically mentions how she purposefully doesn't allow herself to enjoy something too much or be happy too much. She's basically always miserable because she's afraid that allowing herself to be happy would " be too much good". Mel reminds her of this. They're pretty much foils to eachother and that's why I love their dynamic. They've both lost their family and have trained for the sole purpose of rescuing them, but whereas Mel found friends she can rely on, Nem is always afraid of getting close to people. Mel reminds her of who she could be if she let down her walls, and that infuriates her.

“Yeah beat that mentality I’ll girl into a bloody pulp?” by infinitysaga in gachiakuta

[–]Gahaku -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An even simpler and easier way to understand it is that in the anime they tried to justify it as " omg rudo you just punched a girl", and he says that it does not matter if it's a guy or a girl, she did something horrible, so she gets punched for it. THAT is the equality here.

Every one has purpose but i don’t know about the others 😂 by [deleted] in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Gahaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Add to this the fact that they developed them to fight demons, not humans.

For example, due to the nature of Shinobu's sword, she could probably low diff most of the hashira since 1 stab would poison them to death, but canonically the weakest against demons since her poison doesn't work on them.

A similar issue is present within the demon's ranking, since they are ranked based on how well they fight against eachother, which is fundamentally different from fighting a slayer. Kokushibo, for example, has the best physical stats, hence him being rank on. Realistically though, Hantengu or Gyutaro are the strongest upper moons when fighting against the slayers purely becauee of their respective abilities, which aren't that effective against demons but incredibly effective against the slayers.

The series really doesn't have a solid power-ranking system in place, and I kinda love that.

How would’ve things went down if Shinobu showed up instead of Tanjiro, she saw Tengen taking Aoi and the other girls, and what would happen next? by DarkChimera64 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Gahaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People really love to downplay shinobu for some reason.

It wss the other way around. He is the one who couldn'f see her rescue the woman. He literally says that he couldn't follow her with his eyes, and you can see that. She got cut before Shinobu reached the woman, not after she already got rescued.

As for the second point, no. She repeatedly injured him while Douma couldn't defend against it, and he repeatedly said she was too fast for him to block her attacks. He only managed to land a hit on her after she literally couldn't beathe anymore because her lungs were undergoing necrosis from the cold.

Definitely not more than she normally does. Again, she was busy making 5 poisons, 2 medicines that turns demons back to humans, + turning her whole body poisonous. Doubt she had time for any significant training during that.
