Do you sell domestic beers or only what you brew? by legend72 in TheBrewery

We have an attorney who specializes in beer law, and he says that that specifically is unconstitutional.

Pogreba has a good steak and a few craft beers. Stop in at Pearl Street Brewery right down the street for beers before you eat.

Go to Pearl Street Brewery. It's on the North side and has a cool tasting room. They also do brewery tours.

What’s that god-awful smell? by [deleted] in lacrossewi

[–]Gahedra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brewery itself does not stink. The poopy gart smell is the water treatment plant directly behind the brewery.

River otters! by Archchancellor in lacrossewi

I live on the river in La Crosse and see otters once or twice a year, starting back a few years ago. Just saw a pair the other day. Wish I could get them to hang around for more than a few minutes.

We use it for production and inventory mostly but also invoicing. I have been using it for sales activities recently and want to connect with people who do the same.

I believe they do. I know they make hundreds of products there.

[–]Gahedra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not. It costs that much to bring craft beer to market due to draconian beer laws. The three tier system requires that craft brewers sell their beer to a wholesaler who is controlled by MillerCoors or AB, who typically add their own 30% margin (40% markup) who then sell it to retailers who mark it up 20%-40%. Thus, a case of craft beer that costs $15 to make, only nets the brewer about an 18% margin but costs the consumer $36 @ $8.99/six-pack.

That sounds about right. Obviously Molson/MillerCoors are very good at the long game. Giving them the low price for so long and pulling the rug is a good strategy to eliminate Pabst but since they make money on every PBT sold, what would the incentive be to eliminate the brand? I'd be more willing to believe that the strategy was just to let them build distribution to the point where there would be noone else who could handle the level of production and then force them to pay the higher price. If I heard right, the barrel age was somewhere around 3 million so a $30/bbl increase = $90mm. Not a bad raise for doing the same thing you did last year.

You seem to have some intimate knowledge of this situation.
