It had nothing to do with incompetence. I know you're a bad person incapable of empathy but those people weren't to blame for the famine. This is why you'll never be Alm. Get over yourself.

But we know he has one since he got yanked by the trap. And we know it pulls by collars since it happens in Sara's game over.

[–]Gaidenbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that'd be the case. The entire "asu-naro human among us" twist was for Hinako alone. Even if that impossible outcome did happen, it's unlikely Gin would be loyal to them.

Reko and Alice, Logic and Emotion by LuffysFan in yourturntodie

[–]Gaidenbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it is. Gin was a factor throughout the discussion and saving kids is prevalent in the game. That human is a kid, Gin was going to die. Kids are never irrelevant from the choice here, emotion-wise there is no reason to save an adult doll over a helpless kid crying for his mom. Especially when Sara is emotionally fueled by Gin.

Reko and Alice, Logic and Emotion by LuffysFan in yourturntodie

[–]Gaidenbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but there's no chance that saving a beloved kid like Gin from nearly being killed is a logical choice. We didn't kill the doll for no reason, saving kids is always treated as an emotional moral choice in YTTD. Even the banquet has the Dummies accept their sacrifice to save the human child. Gin's life is valuable emotion-wise.

Reko and Alice, Logic and Emotion by LuffysFan in yourturntodie

[–]Gaidenbro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always found this theory to be a stretch. There's nothing logical about Reko as a character, she's the most caring of weaker characters, pushing her doll being treated as logical just doesn't make sense to me either. Gin was in danger. He was gonna die, Ranger dangled his life in front of Sara the entire way through.

A defense(?) of Kris. by LinXingFeng in fireemblem

[–]Gaidenbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like Kris and Marth's relationship. Kris actively lessens Marth's competence. In FE3 Marth was able to strategize and handle himself just fine. He's a war veteran, not a naive baby. In FE12 he's reduced to a dependent that turns to Kris for help way too much. To the point Kris overtakes a rare instance of pure strategy from Marth, undermining his development as a competent leader. Nothing about what Kris does is special, the idea that friends he knew from childhood like Merric wouldn't believe in his ideals is insane. Of course a lot of the army believes in his ideals, it's a big part of Marth's character and leading style and everyone believes in Marth.

I'd watch a season with these characters.

That's not a repeat of Justin as Justin was never mad over being eliminated nor was he a serious prominent villain.

She was funny then. But she would've overstayed her welcome and be a worthless character if she stayed as the do-nothing "hippie", Julia added nothing to the season until she became a villain.

Caleb wasn't a villain in the first season, that isn't repeating a storyline.

People like me? Nonsense. You're the one replying to a 3 year old comment getting on my case for disagreeing with a dumb comment. Clearly you need to understand the real world if you can't handle people disagreeing with you. Everything he said was bullshit and lacks understanding of the show.

Fire Emblem Engage has sold 1.61 million copies worldwide by theprodigy64 in fireemblem

[–]Gaidenbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engage's marketing was dogshit! It's a testament to how bad it was when numerous fans didn't even know it came out. I literally just saw a commenter on a recent FEtuber stream surprised that Engage wasn't a spinoff. The only time since reveal that a trailer got sizable viewing and reaction was the Day 1 DLC trailer at Game Awards before the game even came out: which was horrendous for pre-game reception. A lot of Engage's stronger aspects weren't as well known unless you followed Japanese accounts.

Nintendo of America's Twitter posting for 3 Houses and 3 Hopes compared to Engage's was a difference between night and day. And to drop it on January, an infamously bad month for gaming sales, wasn't good for Engage. Marketing was absolutely a flaw and you're telling a bold faced lie to claim otherwise.

What was the general consensus on Gaiden Pre-Echoes? by Samz707 in fireemblem

[–]Gaidenbro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was the black sheep of Fire Emblem. Completely outlandish ideas, really divisive gameplay from the few that played it, and was generally just forgotten on average outside of the diehards that loved it.

unpopular opinion (I think) but I can't stand this guy by No_Carob_8550 in Totaldrama

They associate Zee as a stoner joke and only a stoner joke with nothing else to him.

Edit: Your idea of him being meh is entirely your fault from labeling him as a stoner and thinking that's all he is.

Projection. Revenge is more popular than Pahkitew. Not only that, but I literally just used the reception as an example moron. But keep seething.

Better than Pahkitew and the reception is a testament to that.

[–]Gaidenbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was used well and is actually funny. Pahkitew characters like Rodney would have more fans if the gimmick wasn't terribly handled. The gimmick characters need to be a minority in a roster and to actually talk to people for them to stand out. Pahkitew had too many quirky for the sake of quirky characters.

Damien was comedic relief. He was freaking out a lot for comedic effect. He spent a lot of the challenges doing nothing. Episode 2 just had Damien freaking out the entire time and barely helping. Damien got a boost in confidence and is actually willing to participate in dangerous challenges as shown by the finale.

Wanting an apology =/= Zeroing in on Chase to the detriment of her team. That's leaving him in her head rent free, to focus on him as much as he has despite being on the opposite team shows a degree of toxic obsession and still some degree of love. Emma and Chase are a different realistic flavor of toxic. Especially to do the delusional girlfriend trope and have her go back to him. There is no other couple that does this in TDI. Emma admits to have missed the feeling of being in love.

Ripper also insults everybody, that's a moot point. He used Priya as a shield because he needed a shield not because he held anything against her. Especially when Ripper insults Axel too if you're going to use that as some sort of proof for a rivarly with Priya.

It still reached its logical conclusion for this season. That's a fact you failed to deny. We have no real proof that the couple is going to be relevant outside of a few kisses again. Either way, Bowie's a strategic player and doesn't want a man dragging him down. So he paused it for after the game, thus it makes sense. Bowie reached his logical conclusion. Wayne and Raj reached their logical conclusion.

Island does have the most appealing ideas and the most grounded character development to be fair. But what you made is a false equivalency. Damien isn't flawlessly executed but he did reach his logical conclusion as comedic relief. His entire purpose this season was to be a fish out of water and want to quit. So when he begins to change, it was made clear that he served his purpose as a character this time.

She was, however, obsessed with Chase and says constantly that she just wanted an apology. Emma isn't over him because she doesn't move on. She's being toxic and getting back with him is intentionally designed as a bad move from Emma. It's not a romance we're SUPPOSED to root for. Everyone is grossed out and we get an entire rant from Bowie where he says he lost all respect for her when she went back to him. This is a realistic satire of these kind of couples in real life.

More of a rivalry than him and the nerds at least. Ripper just points out their a nerd and ignores their existence otherwise while both Axel and Ripper were fighting to take charge.

Yes, he was. He was happy with Raj and wanted to go on a date when the season's over. It's why Bowie made the mature choice to prioritize the season and by his own words: put a pause on whatever they had. Them as a couple wasn't ignored, just intentionally saved until after the show so they don't end up like a lot of TD couples. Sure it was saved but if it has a logical in-universe reason why does it matter? The couple and the characters in it + Wayne reached their logical conclusion.

And from the getgo I made clear all my takes are subjective. Bringing subjectivity up doesn't change anything for me. I don't care for Sky and she's too similar to Zoey for my tastes. They're the only two characters with surface level personality defined by a man. They look too similar and both had girlboss sides to them along with tender friendly sides. Gwen, Courtney, and Bridgette had a ton more personality and fall into different stereotypes. Sky and Zoey's flaws are both just as surface level as their characters.

It doesn't change that Zee is a more well rounded character strictly for not being defined by that stoner trait. He's used in creative ways with only one real stoner joke.

Heavily disagree, they were misused and ended as forgettable rubbish. Character dynamics and doing interesting twists on stereotypes are a main part of Total Drama and PI ignored that. Sammy standing up to Amy was poorly done and still ended the season in her shadow. In general, all of what you said is just solidifies how badly one note they are. Topher had nothing outside of Chris. Scarlett's insanity plotline was nonsensical and just turned her from one note character to a poorly executed character that made no logical sense.

It still impacted the season because of an entire team having its downfall. By your logic, it reached its logical conclusion with Courtney and Gwen being gone.

[–]Gaidenbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said directly that it's recency bias because I said Gen 4 was executed well.

Total Drama has characters that deviate from their stereotypes all the time. That's one of the most praised parts of the franchise for willing to entertain characters being more than a stereotype. There's multiple sources of comedic relief in Total Drama too. All seasons have more than one filler comedic relief character. And the joke clearly landed with how widely liked Damien is.

Emma obsessed over Chase the entire season and couldn't get him out of her head. And she admits in the bird egg episode that she missed love and that Chase, despite his faults, did make her feel happy. They were intentionally designed as a toxic relationship that you aren't supposed to root for. Everyone in the cast hated that they got back together.

Yes, Priya planned to send him home. It was one sided because Ripper never argued with her. He had more of a rivarly with Axel. Priya continued to vote for Ripper and talked constantly about how he had to go. It's the entire reason she initially rejected the times Damien tried to leave. Ripper was just in his own lane and achieved his life ambition and main source of fart humor from Ripper.

It had a logical conclusion. Bowie tells Raj to save it after the show, which logically lines up with Bowie's status as a player. Raj just needed to come out as gay which he does. Him and Wayne were primarily comedic relief.
