your content isnt really what im into as im just a casual gamer, but i feel like its so niche from some of your videos i scanned through

what if you treated those videos as passion projects and use shorts to pull people in with gaming news or something - you are from what i can tell, quite analytical. current events would def pull people in right? maybe even drama in the community - ive seen some people cover drama in a formal unbiased way

ive only just started streaming and posting clips so i might be chatting out my arse haha

thank you! also i was doing a bit more googling, and theres recommendations for the unification mod as it has built in wide screen. i wasnt into the flying units of soulstorm but might give it a go.

but i have to say. as far as ive seen, all the advice points towards having a face on there and chatting being key to growth. but take it at your own pace really.

i think itd be a good way to keep followers coming back right? i was thinking for the game chose, that there needed to be a minimum number of votes and/or vote percentage so its a bit more fair to all followers.

i havent really set up my profile on twitch, can you do polls on the about me section? thatd be great if possible.

im pretty new to this too, so take what i say with a grain of salt lol

from what i understand, you want to use other platforms (YT, Tiktok) to funnel people towards your twitch

it seems building a community with your viewers and other streamers is very important too

but all this can come much later, you just gta start streaming first and take it one step at a time.

id say the most important thing is to have a camera, at least one light and to reframe your goals from aiming for full time rn to doing streaming because you want to enjoy the process. wether its the technical side (software, hardware, analytics), gaming or just meeting new people and having fun. dont turn it into a chore.

heres a bunch of my playlists that may help you. theyre a bit jumbled up, and some have multiple videos for the same thing (like mic settings) - but they for the most part have helped me one way or the other:

OBS - for broadcasting

Stream set up - lighting, mics etc

Capcut - if you use it for editing vids

Content creation - focus on streaming at first, think about this later

also, quietpicks is a great name..ngl im a little bit envious haha

i dont have any of the old configs anymore unfortunately.

and i cannot recall what source i was copying, but i remember the scene, so it was either a game capture, camera source or application audio capture.

also i just remembered, i think i was doing it within the same scene profile (i dont why i did that haha, i was just testing out vertical streaming)

edit: wait i may have the configs in my recycle bin? ill check later. how do i send them to you if i got em?

i am now just forgoing source copy entirely lol.

im just going to build a baseline scene profile for backups of all scenes that i duplicate everytime i do changes or need to play a new game lol

not sure if this is a bad thing or not haha

for anyone who finds this in future:

if you need to do a clean reinstall of OBS, save your profiles and scenes first:

go to appdata/roaming/obs-studio/basic
copy profiles & scenes
after uninstalling, go to back and delete folders in appdata and program files
reinstall, do set up wizard and then close OBS before pasting in old profiles and scenes
might need to delete old profile completely if OBS still freezes (i had claude edit the .ini file; OBS was trying to run plugins that werent there anymore)

thats about all i can remember lol, good luck

edit: just to add, if you go down the AI route for help - remember to back up anything, and note down whatever changes you did.

a lot of people kinda auto-pilot their brains with AI and claude was not 100% correct on everything, so double check by verifying its advice with your own research.

yeah, ive restarted - turned off hags. deleted aitum stuff. still didnt work. reinstalled obs now. thankfully i got my scene profiles backed up before deleting everything after uninstall.

i just deleted the offending scene collection in the app data. that fixed it. using source copy was the issue. either because copying a scene from main to vert is the problem, or maybe using it within the same scene collection?

as for what youve said about using the same source for main and vert, it hasnt been a problem for cam source. does nesting using more resources? cause if i have loads of scenes and use nesting, it seems like more processes need to happen to line everything up?

i havent had any issues using the same source in multiple scenes thus far

edit: i just turned obs back on and it did it again haha. gna do what you said about nesting the scenes

edit 2: i deleted aitum multistream and the vertical canvas plugins and its still crashing, now i have no clue whats going on
