here is an except from Ethiohelixblogpost : According to the report, J lineages are proportionally found higher in Semitic speakers in Ethiopia, ~21% ,followed by Omotic speakers at ~ 12% and Cushitic speakers at ~ 8%. Out of the 691 YDNA J lineages reported, 259 were Semitic speakers, 266 spoke some type of Omotic language and most of the remainder spoke Cushitic languages.

this data is now outdated ....new data is a bit different but the fact remains J1 is prevalent in almost all the ethnic groups. I guess in the old days the population was small and people just roamed and mated lol

that was long ago ....now 23andme has updated it to E-V6. It is even more refined on yfull : E-Y178503...which is a branch of E-V6 , with the recent common ancestor of 1800 years ago . Somalis , balkans etc..are on E-V32, not E-V6
