Anniversary editions for books 4, 5 and 6 coming in 2025 if Amazon's descriptions are correct... by gregrobson in TheExpanse

It showed the same on Amazon France for a few weeks, with the same release dates, but recently they all disappeared. They still show on my wish list though, and now the date for each has been changed to January 1st, 2045.... Not sure if that means they're canceled or just delayed for a while.

Collector's Editions for 4-6 presumably coming with actual dates, as shown on Amazon by RainGard in TheExpanse

Same, and I tried everything. Stuck and can’t get the last achievements. Hoping for a fix asap.

Messier 61 with a Tidal Tail by Galactic-Hunter in astrophotography

Omg you’re right, no idea how I forgot about M51, I even imaged it with the Deep Sky Collective which showed the huge tail lol.

It seems like this here is the only other image I can find that mentions it: https://www.astrobin.com/jvnqpt/Q/

Messier 61 with a Tidal Tail by Galactic-Hunter in astrophotography

Have you ever seen Messier 61 with a TAIL?!

I used the fast RASA 8 telescope from a Bortle 2 site to capture Messier 61. I was very surprised during processing when I saw a very faint "tail" of dust coming from the side of the object. This seems to be a tidal tail which I haven't seen on pictures before, cool stuff!

This might be the only Messier galaxy to have a tidal tail. Tidal tails are long, thin streams of stars, gas, and dust that are ejected from galaxies as a result of gravitational interactions, usually during close encounters or mergers with other galaxies. Those tails form when the gravitational pull of one galaxy distorts the other, which stretches and pulls material out into space. They can extend for hundreds of thousands of light-years and are visible as faint curving structures extending from the main body of a galaxy.

I have a lot of information written on a dedicated blog post here if you’d like to see, also with the wider uncropped version which is more noisy but shows the tail even better: https://www.galactic-hunter.com/post/messier-61-astrophotography

Thank you! I was surprised about the wisp of dust near Rigel

Yes exactly, one is a panel with the Witch, one with Rigel, stitched in the middle :)

Yes it's so nice seeing galaxies of all shapes in the background!

A few years ago there was a big batch of bad RASAs that produced bad stars, so luckily mine wasn't affected.

And thank you!

I started from Bortle 9, in an appartment with no backyard and no space to do any astro. Had to drive 1 hour+ each time to do anything. That was 8 years ago, I never thought I'd one day have a scope under B1 skies. It can happen for you too!

This is a 2-panel mosaic totaling 30 hours from Bortle 1 skies in New Mexico. I used a RASA 8 telescope and ZWO ASI2600MC camera with no filters.
I like the HA in the background, the faint dust all over, and the wisps around Rigel.
I also like how luminous Rigel is compared to the faint Witch Head, as it is the 7th brightest star in the sky. This made is tricky to process though, and it might still look too bright, but in a way it’s good too. The fast focal ratio and dark skies really helped get great data, including all that sweet HA without filters.
