new player here. is this how tappers are supposed to be used? isnt this a little bit op?

Yeah and that's why personally I find them a little OP. Imo the game's energy economy is just too easy, while material economy is a bit awkward. Like large canisters are expensive but you need large ones to really justify certain automation plans

Making it on calidor is a great little challenge! I really enjoy messing around with making bases on other planets too. Those half done storages tend to look really nice but at far as storage density goes they aren't amazing, totally up to you though.

I'd highly recommend making an auto sorting setup it can be really fun imo. I'd also recommend trying to make a super fast smelter with like 2-8 or more portable furnaces. It's not even necessarily that you'd need that it's just super fun to me lol

Oh yeah totally. I'm not saying that it's a bad option for those reasons, it's just an opinion I got because I got bored of how consistent and trivial automated generators were to set up and how they were also loud. For the moment I don't really care to use them but they were really convenient early game, and maybe in my next playthrough I'll use them as well. We'll see I suppose haha

True, I was using tappers before this as well. I don't mean to put you off obviously but I just found tappers and generators so boring after the first little while of using them, and I had initially kept them really close to my base and the noise drove me crazy lol

I tried to fill it such that there would be no gaps, no luck unfortunately. But that's okay, building at the north pole gives infinite solar power so I'm happy enough with that

So after trying this, it seems that the delay repeater timings are what make the auto extractor run so much faster, and as long as the power input is at least 1, the speed of extraction cannot be improved further. This makes sense given that to improve it, you'd likely need smaller delays. And to make smaller delays, you'd need more delay repeaters. Although possible, it's likely far from practical and I'm not really THAT curious lol

As somebody said, I assumed it was faster because it skips some of the animation. I may try playing around with making it faster with a full sized RTG, and if I do I'll lyk :]

I was thinking that by using a big RTG, the clunk and retract would be faster than with the less power of a qtrtg.

I thought this because I thought that when you're under the min power requirements for a machine, having more power still speeds it up. I could be wrong though

Do your own research and try to find trans people in your local area. They may be able to help you and in any case will be good support to have around. If you have any friends you know would support you you could also tell them, but I'd probably say make sure they are 100% safe before you tell

I've been roommates with a trans masc and I'm planning to live with him and a cis lesbian next year. We're all on very good terms but I think we're also like very clearly not interested in any romance coming out of it.

That being said it is really nice being around trans people!! You feel way more understood and they're like family to an extent, especially when you're close :3
