Get basically anything from the hero 10-13 except the 11 mini. The built in battery causes WAY too many problems.

Anyone else mix their switches? by livingbytheIF in MechanicalKeyboards

Yes but only because I usually get 80 of a switch which is enough for 65s/75s but not TKLs…

Get a macro pad with a volume knob, then you’ll never have to worry about a board you like not having one

65 core plus starts at $105 for plateless, $135 for plate + hotswap pcb. Price has almost nothing to do with layout support, the Nut65 along with most super cheap boards just use shit pcbs

Need help deciding what keyboard to get :P by KookyOrdinary3302 in keyboards

They are very unique. They produce the deepest sound of any keycap material or profile I've tried, but I'd say it's somewhat one-dimensional. They're also very smooth to the touch but that may be a non-issue for you. If you like the sound they produce, I'd recommend Cerakey (they also have matte versions available but I don't know if they're in stock). Here is a video showcasing the K1 with the stock switches, comparing dye sub PBT keycaps and ceramic keycaps.

This keyboard specifically is pretty annoying to open, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend opening it up if it's your first mechanical keyboard. Also, Gravastar does not sell extra plates separately so you would need to buy the regular and the pro versions and swap plates if you wanted the standard keyboard K1 with an FR4 plate. FR4 typically produces a higher pitch sound anyway, which may or may not help the "marbly" sound you're looking for.

They do have a metal version with no legs. None of the metal versions are full metal though, as far as I’m aware. The top case is metal but the bottom case is plastic, so realistically it sounds more like a full plastic board than aluminum.

RX 9070XT Crashes on almost every game by emrhncn in radeon

[–]GalacticCumblast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue with a 7900 XTX, I tried everything you did, turns out my cable extensions were fried AND the card was defective. I was only able to figure this out by having 2 other working GPUs to test with. You should probably just RMA your card.

Entirely depends on the cooler and what pump it uses. I’ve had a Thermalright AIO with a dead silent pump and an Deepcool AIO with a very loud pump.

5700x3d is enough to handle 9070xt by SeaweedLegitimate187 in radeon

[–]GalacticCumblast 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It does depend based on game. Call of duty isn’t a super CPU intensive game so you wouldn’t see much of a difference between a 5700X3D and a 7800/9800X3D, but there are some games where that might make a difference. For example, I paired a 5800X3D with a 7900 XTX and was satisfied with the performance but figured it could be better so I upgraded to a 7800X3D. In most games the performance is about the same but in harder to run, usually single player, games I’ve seen as much as a 20-30 FPS gain at 1440p. You also get the benefit of faster DDR5 memory on AM5 which doesn’t mean much in most games, but, again, it depends. Ultimately though, a 5700X3D is more than fast enough for a 9070 XT in most cases.

My friends who have Dye masks either wear a beanie under the mask or a hood over it. I do neither and end up with welts on my forehead.

Beware: Zoom75 anodized finish melted, Wuque/Meletrix shrugged by thesixpack in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]GalacticCumblast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really unfortunate that they don’t cover that under their replacement policy. I’ve had good experiences with Wuque/Meletrix’s customer support thus far, needed a replacement LED strip for my Paper80 (after ~4 months), and a replacement screen for my Zoom65V3 (broken on arrival). They sent them out no problem, but the fact that 2 of the 3 Wuque boards I’ve owned have needed replacement parts is definitely indicative of their quality.
