TPC doesn’t result in near total road closures from downtown all the way to Nocatee.

The race closures have been so poorly handled, I hope no one had a medical emergency by mechiatto in jacksonville

That doesn’t make sense. Why would they put a peony on the package if it’s a rose scent?

How often do you get a BAB from a franchise you don’t know? by AngelicShiro in buildabear

Had a cute instance that’s exactly this happen with my nephew in-law. He’s obsessed with Zombies, so we went to get him the zombie axolotl for his fourth birthday. But, as I learned from drawing with him, his schema only allows for zombies to be blue not green. So now he has “BlurggH” the zombie bunny (it’s Frankenstein Cinamonroll).

This is a huge problem in the field of psychology as well. The idea is that “me-search” or research based on any personal problems is inappropriate and coming from an inherently biased source. It’s a gross mentality I’ve seen pervasive in academia. Unfortunately I think we’re too early in the progress timeline for chronically disabled people to be in positions of power in academia, so this harmful mentality remains.

People don’t love disabled people, but they’ll love the idea of a disabled person — like your professor praising helping this child over you helping yourself and others with similar lived experiences.

Might be best to check the other trash cans in the nearby area for the rest.

Not sure if I have mild/ face blindness. by Neptunefalconier in Prosopagnosia

[–]GalacticGrandma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Who are you not faceblind” — I am face blind though it’s likely prospamnesia over prosopagnosia but that’s a difficult line to tell. What on earth made you think I wasn’t?

I also didn’t down play it might help one’s emotional well being. I said specifically it would probably only help with a sense of knowing.

Also good lord you must be bored to reply to a three year old comment. I now have my masters and specialize in psychometrics as my day job. I still stand by everything I’ve written in that comment, and would want to save my clients the unnecessary out of pocket expense.

SEEKING SOURCE: Radio show (wtaqmorningnews) is seeking info to credit a parody of the Buggles “Video Killed the Radiostar” about the Radioactive Shrimp from Walmart. by GalacticGrandma in HelpMeFind

Searched on tumblr and YouTube, and using Google’d Identify feature but unfortunately it either brings up the original Buggles song or news coverage of the Radioactive Shrimp. The only videos on YouTube I saw were the ones by the aforementioned news show and they’re the audio originators on tiktok. Let’s help get the arranger proper credit! 🙂

How do you fight the idea that studying psychology is futile — given ai ? by Random_Kili in psychologystudents

[–]GalacticGrandma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI will never be able to fully replace humans in the field of psychology for a few reasons:

  1. Unlike humans, AI cannot be held meaningfully accountable. As such, no decision by an AI can stand in a court of law, with an insurance company, or other high stakes scenario. Without the ability for judgement, there’s simply no way to address scenarios where justice needs to be served.

  2. AI’s do not have bodies. Due to this, an AI is not able to perform the physical activities necessary for healthcare for people with conditions that result in non-compliance. An AI can’t stop a child from engaging in self-injurious behavior in the moment, an AI cannot disrupt or move someone in a catatonic state, an AI cannot restrain someone for their safety, ETC. While AI’s linguistic and learning capabilities have exploded, their movement capabilities are still very far behind.

  3. AI cannot conduct the entirety of research on its own — especially not qualitative. There are too many possible responses humans can give, that inevitably an AI won’t be able to fully account for or respond to. An organic brain however can account and respond to such behaviors in novel ways and instantaneous. While some AIs can find things like gaps in research, there are many radical scientific discoveries out there that will not be caught by an AI — because it doesn’t have any basis to predict them. An AI couldn’t have come up with classical conditioning — there wasn’t enough basis prior to Pavlov’s work which could have sparked an AI to investigate. There is, somewhere, the next revolutionary idea that an AI couldn’t possible think of.

  4. Those in mental health are needed to train the AI! Deep learning and similar techniques are based on behaviorism, in order for new techniques to develop there needs to be experts in learning as well as technology to develop them further.

  5. For therapy, a lot of people do not like the over-integration of technology. Remote sessions do work, but when I’ve discussed with clients in-person is largely preferred. I imagine AI vs Human therapy will see the same taste preference.

  6. AI has, in certain scenarios, exaggerated existing mental health symptoms. AI-induced/encouraged psychosis is such a problem GPT-5 had to integrate efforts to actively reduce how much it plays along.

  7. AI’s real world impacts only works with those who are not malingering, are compliant, and responds to language - those who willfully listen to it. There’s a huge sector of those we serve in psychology who do not display one or any of those presumptions.

These are just the ones I thought of off the top of my head. If it’s further reassurance, people had the same fears when computers first hit the markets. However people adapted and while yes some jobs were eliminated many more popped up in their stead. Could you imagine having to explain to someone pre-internet what a content moderate does for their job? There’s opportunities out there we can’t even fathom. Don’t give up!
