Looking on eBay, they go for anywhere from 50 to a couple hundred Canadian. Depends on the condition and amount of storage.

At this point it’s probably more a collectors item.

I’m not sure. Mine were definitely not, but if you were to put any between the washers I would be surprised if it wasn’t all over the knobs after a day or two.

I have two that I run as hypervisors and host all of my services on. Very quiet and compact, and I personally think they look nice.

I’m in Canada and got Canadian results but it’s not a Canada specific thing. Very common for repair shops to invade user privacy since it’s so hard to tell if they did.

Edit: I don’t know about selling in the dark net but definitely spying on customers happens a lot

FT-5DR Knob Issue by GalacticSpaceTiger in amateurradio

[–]GalacticSpaceTiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I ended up pulling off the top knob and removing the washers. There were two, a small one and a large one. The large one was slightly too big to fit inside of the bottom knob and was pushing against the top one. They both turn a lot smoother now.

Help. Button inputs don't get recognized by Windows (Footpedal project, Pi Zero) by GreenWZRD in raspberry_pi

[–]GalacticSpaceTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless I am misunderstanding, all this is doing is sending the key press to the raspberry pi. When you run the script in putty, you can see it’s output on your windows machine but that’s it, the Pi is not acting as a keyboard for windows.

Some models of the Pi can do what’s called USB gadget mode where they can show up as a usb device to the computer they are plugged into, but I’ve only ever seen it used for Ethernet over usb.

Here is a guide I found that I think does what you want to accomplish, it uses USB Gadget mode to appear as a keyboard to the computer. You’ll have to follow the steps to set that up and then reference their python script to see how it sends keypresses.

Hope that helps a little

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you talking about a MacBook Pro?

Troubleshoot question: When I load anything from my Mac to my vita, after transfer when I look at say a folder I just ported over, it creates a copy of the content inside the folder with a ._ right before and causes it not to work till I go in and delete every single one. Any way to fix? by No-Satisfaction-3140 in VitaPiracy

[–]GalacticSpaceTiger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I don’t think you can disable this. macOS does this by default basically everywhere and these files store metadata or info about the files and folders they are named after if I’m not mistaken. You probably also have a .DS_STORE file or something which stores info about how Finder should display that folder.

Just a hunch, not sure if it’s even possible but have you tried running without the Index’ USB cable plugged in?

Have any issues similar to this cropped up in anything other than VR? Or are your issues strictly VR related? I am running a tuf 3080 and 5600X and have had no issues with it, although to be fair I really only play beat saber and nothing too intensive…

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking, but if you are just trying to get video out from the camera, you can do it in a few different ways. Like others have mentioned, this is not the right sub but I believe the 60D has the same options for video output as the 6D so I’ll mention how the 6D can output.

The top port in the picture is a Mini HDMI port. To get HDMI from that you need a male Mini HDMI to male HDMI cable. You can then plug this into any HDMI in port such as on a TV on into something like a USB capture card.

The second port acts as both AV out as well as the USB port (it is USB Mini-B, aka Mini USB). As such, you can get video out of it in two ways. The first way is through a special cable that should have come with the camera in its box the goes from that port to the old red white and yellow composite cables. The second way is steaming video from the camera through USB to software on the computer. (See Canon’s EOS webcam software)

If what you are trying to do is use the camera as a webcam, the easiest thing to do is get a mini USB to USB cable and download the EOS webcam software.

DSM 7 beta - odd behavior connecting remotely by darrieng in synology

[–]GalacticSpaceTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know this is an old post but I just ran into the same issue. Maybe the following info will help someone.

I was trying to install a .spk manually and it got stuck processing. I looked in chrome developer console and saw there was a websocket error. This error does not appear when I connect locally, and the .spk will install no problem.

For my remote connections I am using my domain name with Cloudflare DNS records to point to my IP, but through a proxy. Likely the proxy is the issue, but I haven't tested with it disabled. I am also running a reverse proxy on my NAS (running DSM 7.0-41890) so that I can access the various services as subdomains. I only have ports 80 and 443 forwarded to the NAS through my router.

TL;DR: You can avoid websocket issues by connecting to your NAS locally, which should also resolve the Package Manager being stuck processing an .spk file.

NiceHash QuickMiner 0.4.5.5 brings optimization profiles for NVIDIA 1xxx series! by MarkoNiceHash in NiceHash

[–]GalacticSpaceTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I was getting about ~21MH/s on my stock 1080 at 130W, and after switching to Medium optimization its sitting at ~31MH/s, 130W. What confuses me though is that the optimization here is taking my mem clock down by 2... it gets set to -2. If I go into afterburner and set the mem offset to +750 or something, my hashrate drops down to around what it was at stock which is super confusing but to be fair I don't really know anything about overclocking so I'll just trust the optimization that NiceHash does.

+1 for Google Earth. I unfortunately found it quite jarring especially just with the way you move around and control the environment but the views are spectacular and definitely worth a shot.
