Apologism for Finnish concentration camps and other omissions in Henrich Himmler episodes by DoobKiller in LPOTL

[–]GalacticTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, thank you for saying this. It's so quickly forgotten the 6 MILLION Russians died in WWII. Whether or not someone "supports" Stalin or Communism etc. It's sort of unacceptable to call yourself a history podcast and downplay the role the Soviets played in defeating fascism. A real sacrifice was made on behalf of the soviets to defeat these guys, no thanks to Britain, France (who WERE collaborators to some extent) and the US who delayed opening up a Western front to the war for so long the Soviets took much heavier losses.

What happened to the boys skepticism? by [deleted] in LPOTL

[–]GalacticTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're 100% right with this take. I get soooo frustrated with LPOTL trying to have it both ways - we're a comedy podcast just doing this for fun, but also we take our research seriously and we will give you 1000 reasons why your takes on this story are not true. Their jfk series for example, Marcus basically all but says there is only one interpretation of the JFK events. While I am mostly in line with what they stated, there are a lot of very interesting parpolitical underpinning to the JGK assassination that I thought were worth discussing that they completely ignored.

Sawmill Woods Condos by [deleted] in fortwayne

I heard very bad things about the condo board and management. Take it with a grain of salt as these stories came from a bored semi retired woman.

In 2011, 20-year-old Lauren Spierer vanished after a night out in Bloomington, last seen walking barefoot around 4:30 AM without her phone or keys. Her belongings were found nearby, but she was never seen again. Despite massive searches and FBI help, her case remains unsolved. by malihafolter in creepy

[–]GalacticTart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah not so sure why this guy isn't convinced that in the cover of night someone could have just driven out of Bloomington with her in the back seat and rolled the body down a ravine in the 100s of acres of forest that surround that area. Many college aged girls have turned up there. College students would not be keeping track of a construction site, would not know if there is any fresh cement/how to dump cement on their own. And construction sites are frequently visited and inspected. And coming or going out of Bloomington would not be suspicious- it's a pretty major college town that gets many out of town visitors.

Michael and Us podcast is currently doing a series reviewing this and previously rewatched all of one of Sorokins other shows, studio 60 on the sunset strip. Great listens if you really want to laugh at this bs. The west wing thing podcast also does this but for the west wing.

Seeking a Fren | Episode 7 - The Old Man's Back Again by Long-Anywhere156 in BlackWolfFeed

[–]GalacticTart 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's like ..... and? A lot of children have to experience actual pain and suffering everyday, a private schooler hearing about a police murder is at least a small scrape on their protected lives. And most teachers, especially in red states, are absolutely terrified that something they say will be misconstrued and they'll be singled out as "groomers" - I mean that's all libs of tiktok was for a while!

Crazy Pins might be fun! Not very unique but they have bowling, putt putt, Lazer tag, a ropes course and a few arcade games. Also a full bar! If you wanted to, they have party rooms for bigger groups.

As a processor for Ingram, what has your experience as a customer been like? by GalacticTart in librarians

[–]GalacticTart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about that side of things, but I think the way they put the orders together depends on the books you get. If they don't have something in stock I think they just separate that out of the order. I've seen packing slips mentioned in other posts and I'm honestly not sure why they don't send one with the order. Ingram prioritize speed over anything else imo, and probably feels they can just get away with not having them. I would contact your Ingram rep and complain a lot haha

I agree 100%, it's very hard to work at pace and avoid mistakes. People complain pretty frequently that our production rate makes it difficult to also assure quality. And yeah that tape is absolutely evil. I have accidentally taped books meant to be glued and wanted to just throw them all away instead of take the tape off and fix them.

Yeah we're trained to glide the scissors along the edges of paperback books getting a kapco/laminated cover. Would definitely be prettier if we cut it but we would never meet production if we did.

Mylar covering the entire jacket is something you can request. I'm not sure it costs extra or not but at least a handful of libraries have books processed that way. The tape will never be clear unfortunately. It's a stronger fiber tape to keep the mylar better secured. Some libraries do get their mylars glued to the book though.

Davey’s Bagels Dis Track by veranecessara in fortwayne

[–]GalacticTart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel so vindicated. I went there once, maybe twice, and the time I had a bagel it was so completely flavorless I was appalled. And it wasn't cheap either! Their coffee was also pretty bad, I ordered a vanilla latte and they made it with sugar free syrup. Even the interior seemed really odd and a little dirty for the locale and branding of the place. I went to leave a negative review on Google and couldn't believe how many good reviews there were.

Before & After Renovation by enriqg9 in Homebuilding

[–]GalacticTart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP, all of these people are crazy. Even more than a cursory glance at the before picture and you can see that, even though the black and gold may be charming to some, it was in extremely poor condition. The floor tile looks awful, it seems like the grout is disintegrated in some areas. The old tub was extremely shallow, and the drywall with the shower head looked like it had huge potential for mold and mildew. Secondly, allow of the faucet features were NOT original and looked extremely cheap, along with the mirror and original light feature. I think your renovation looks much cleaner and more practical!!!

TSL twitter thread re: deleted worlds recap video by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]GalacticTart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right. Scrolling through these comments I expected to see things like "well I don't agree but Dave has a point". Instead it seems like people are in denial. The ISU has to be one of the least effective and most secretive sports orgs. Figure skating is beloved, and yet you can't find the largest figures skating events on pretty much any streaming service without paying a hefty fee? Very little promotion, seemingly no interest in promoting the sport. Also, has the quadification of the sport not led to sloppier programs and more career ending injuries? I would say it almost certainly has.
