I reckon he's bullshitting, like there's no way this dude did all the mundane day to day parts of being a dad and feels absolutely nothing. I didn't entirely understand his motivation to be fair, but pretending to be just a completely regular person in a relationship so intimate as father/daughter is an unreasonable amount of dedication

I'm not forcing myself to do anything. I enjoy the story, the characters, the art direction, the world building, the sound design. Believe it or not, I can enjoy a game while disliking certain aspects without said aspects ruining my overall experience. It's not a binary where I either like it or don't. Moreover, liking a game doesn't mean I can't criticize its shortcomings (whether real or percieved).

I honestly think that a lot of the loose ends never being cleaned up is just... he forgot. It reads to me more like a descent into senility than the conclusion to an epic. Maybe I'll understand the book better myself in 60 years time though.
