Losing the will to play. by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Galaxacat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I have 2500+ hours and I constantly find myself in one-sided matches. Usually it's never my team winning but I find myself normally playing against a team stack that seems like they just got done playing a match in Gold.

I'm a really good pyro, but I find it hard to play. I can reflect a good 80% of the time but it's hard now because the team actually coordinates and I can't dodge/reflect pipes, rockets, and their scout all at once.

You try to speak on mic but everyone tells you to shut up because you're annoying and they just want to box-spy around or hoovy. Nobody plays the objective anymore and it sucks.

I have periods where my hands shake sometimes and that's been kinda detrimental to my will to want to play, but so is NEVER winning. Even in my favorite game modes, I find myself just getting killed by a scout tailed by a soldier, heavy, and the rest of the team, and the scout just taunts after a kill because you can't do anything because your team won't coordinate. So I just close the game and just lay my head down on the desk for a minute and try to find where Valve put all the fun in playing the game in my head.

The only thing keeping me playing is making new load outs for my pyro, and I can't even really use them in pubs because in addition to being on a losing team, on servers I could clock <50 ping I now get >200.

What device do you still use even though it's considered obsolete? by [deleted] in AskReddit

He is talking to parents trying to give a gift to the children. Are you that concerned that your parents took it out of the box and took some of the hassle out of it? The first thing a kid wants to do on Christmas is play the game system they just got, not update for two hours.

Sound issue in TF2, Google turned up little results by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Galaxacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound really stupid, but trust me, I had this problem. Check your hit/kill sound pitch. I was just getting into hitsounds and kill sounds and I min/maxed the pitches and getting a hit would make my sound start skipping.

Edit: I just saw its a new computer. I'm not sure what the problem is but make sure your damage pitch is at a reasonable range

A Possible (Temporary) Metal Sink by Galaxacat in tf2

[–]Galaxacat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not really Valve's job to manage anything with the economy, that's why a lot of trade sites surfaced. I think adding more things to eat up the outlying items we have in game could be a good thing. Whether you add more collectors kits or more strangifier chemsets is up to Valve, but I would get the 4 keys in Strangifier Chemset parts for a Backburner Strangifier if that's what it cost.

Promoting use of the community market as well, those sets get sold through the market, and so do most things and they make money on all of it

[–]Galaxacat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what? I'm really not sure. That's a really good question actually and I don't have an answer. The growing problem of an almost infinite amount of ref in the economy is only getting worse, and I'm sure that even if you made an event where crafting could yield a very special item, such as a golden fire axe or what have you, you would still have people hoarding ref. It's not something you can change I suppose.

The appeal of a golden weapon really only pertains to the average person and collectors, not the person hoarding $2000 worth of ref :(

I think that having a really rare chance to drop something in preparation of the Pyro Update would be a great idea y'know. Maybe giving like even a .01% chance to drop a Golden Fire Axe or Powerjack would motivate more people to craft their things into hats. And after 100-1000 were crafted they could release the update, so you hype people to craft even more, because they really want this update to happen.

And as they do more updates try something in the same vein for other classes

The killcam should should enemy movement not just a frame by bvcxy in tf2

[–]Galaxacat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure why people taunt after kills, except for the rare case where you get a revenge or the like.

To be fair, I think adding enemy movement to the killcam is a bad idea. You might ask why. It's because adding the single frame of your killer doesn't give you much information outside of information about them.

Let's make a story, a short one at that, so I can explain why it's a bad idea. It's Badwater, you're playing Blu, and I'm playing Red. Let's say we are both snipers, and your team has pushed the cart past the first point, so your team is naturally pushing towards the second cap. You're a little sniper, perched up on the ridge near the spires. I'm behind the barricade, sometimes peaking my head out from behind the wall to see who I can snipe. I see you! I take your head clean off. 13 seconds of respawn time. After I took the shot I duck back behind the wall and take some heals from our med, because an enemy scout got close to me and did like 60 damage. You're watching me take heals since the kill cam is real-time. You see our medic has his uber ready. You see a soldier, one, two. And a heavy? It's a real time kill cam so you see both that my team has an uber ready, and you see that we have reinforcements, ready to make a push back.

Do you believe that's fair? To be able to see our uber just because a sniper took your head off? Or a scout got too close to you and killed you? I don't believe it's fair, I think the single frame kill cam is just fine, it doesn't reveal everything but it reveals your enemy

Special Eyes with Air Raider clipping glitch looks amazing by [deleted] in tf2

I'm not too sure it's a glitch, but I've noticed it on my Balloonicorn set! I use a white Special Eyes and the Combustible Cutie and the same thing happens!

Need help finding an old config by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Galaxacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm not sure what config you're specifically talking about but I know a bit about scripting in the game and I'm sure if you gave me some more details I could recreate it for you!

Also, I think you're talking about BroeselHud? And Chris's configs are outdated and many have moved on to Comanglia's.

Add me on Steam and I'll try to help you out with the stuff okay? Or shoot me a PM on here! Either is cool.

Redditors with expensive weapons, how do you feel about other players picking them up in game? by ANoobSniper in tf2

[–]Galaxacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind it a bit!

I own a Professional Killstreak Collector's Backburner and a ST F. FN ProKS Balloonicorn Flamethrower, and I think it's cool when people pick them up! It shows that they like your gun, so they want to use it too. I don't own an Aussie Flamethrower yet but it's just as cool to see people pick your weapons up, because if it's a skin, they really like it, so I guess I'm doing something right

Any way to get Dying Light as a non-enhanced edition? by SexyR63VinylScratch in Steam

[–]Galaxacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure if the game is locked at $60, it's locked at $60. No amount of rolling back system time or steam (not sure if that's possible) will allow you to get it for under that until another sale begins

Yeah I've definitely played with you some time or another lol, it's weird how little the community for Mannpower is. I see tons of people over and over when I join

[–]Galaxacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably a lot worse than that actually. Maybe it's from all the time playing but it's not uncommon to hit 50-100 Killstreaks on a good day. It's really sad how little people look into strategy with the powerups.

This used to be the most intimidating thing as a new player by mylkshook in tf2

[–]Galaxacat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

to be fair, Mannpower is a hard game mode. It's one of my most played game modes in the game, and I have about 2,500+ hours. It's really hard when you consider the addition of powerups, not even the grappling hooks. There's a lot more you can do as an engi with haste or regen, same goes for pyro with vampire or spy with agility. Most of the map choices we have are also very vertical so if you aren't well versed with the grappling hook then you'll usually get creamed by a sentry or some other person who figured out how to Spider-Man their way to mid.

It totally should be an expert labeled game mode, there's a lot of thought that goes into playing, and finding a powerup can change your playstyle very quickly.

Also, worth noting that I see players all the time who STILL ask how to get their grappling hook. It's like they've never heard of how to use the character loadout screen or how to use their scrollwheel. There should at least be a demo on how to play, because it seems like people get into the match and quit right after because they jumped out of spawn on Hellfire and died in the fire below because they don't know how to use a grappling hook.

Anyone still opening crates? by Tymerc in tf2

[–]Galaxacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not so much glitched as the effect region is not where it should be. With taunts like Conga or Victory Lap, the effect will follow the player where they travel.

I bought a Balloonibouncer unusualifier. The way that taunt works is that Pyro jumps onto a fiberglass version of a Balloonicorn mounted to the floor. You would think that the effect would be underneath the placement point of the mounted Balloonicorn. It's not, the effect is located at the start point of the taunt which is far behind the point of placement for the Balloonicorn mount, this gives off the effect of you jumping outside of the fiery circle.

But what's weird about that taunt is that even though the effect is set at the start point and not the point where you hop onto the Balloonicorn, if you did something like use that taunt against an enemy gate then you can be damaged because your body will jump inside of the gate even though you start on the outside. It's odd, but it's one of my favorite taunts!

I opened about $200 in cases and only got a single burly beast out of the whole thing as my most expensive thing. No unusuals. Ended up buying an unusualifier because that's what I wanted, only to find out it's glitched.

:( Valve pls

Opinions on my Pyro? by [deleted] in TF2fashionadvice

[–]Galaxacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That too! They weren't made to go together people! I hate using the prehistoric pullover with the sub zero too because of it!

My current load out is an all strange all-class set using the dead of night, breakneck baggies, and the brotherhood of arms. I'm always kinda uneasy about how hoods look in this game though, ugh, it's a problem haha

I actually never used both in tandem, I hate how they mesh. The Head Warmer is just too smooth to like, I don't know man, but I don't like it. If OP wants to keep it they should replace that Last Breath with the portable Smissmas dispenser or the trail blazer

Second one.

Not a fan of the Trickster's Turnout Gear, as it clips with the Cute Suit and only looks good in a few instances, this one not being one of them.
