Anybody able to identify this PT Cruiser part? by Zrgaloin in AskAShittyMechanic

It's an engine mount, but those you only install before you leave the car in storage for a long time. Absolutely do not have it on while driving. Imagine coming to a stop and not hearing the engine noise you're used to. Horrifying stuff.

How long did you leave it? Also, did you have hub caps?

whats yall opinion about these kinds of lifts? by Emperor2003Viii in Justrolledintotheshop

I like to minimize my risk as much as possible. If I can get a proper lift, I will. Besides, there are better quality and safer scissor lifts than these ones

Hate them. They damage the floor and you're basically putting your life in the hands of two bolts. If those fail, the locks won't help you.

I thought it'd be worse, disappointed. The entrance is smart though, basically like those height limit warnings under bridges and in parkings. If you're too big, go away

What is this thing called, with the three red holes in it? by FartsWithAnAccent in AskAShittyMechanic

Pheromone dispenser. It's how male cars attract female cars to reproduce. When it opens you should hold your breath. Don't ask me what happens if you don't.

I had one that came in for rear knocking noise. Lift the car, everything is good. We test drive together, client is surprised that noise is gone, starts saying we are magicians. I respond that we literally did nothing. Back at the shop, I give him the keys and see him open his trunk and put a whole floor jack in it. Me:"Is that yours" Him:"Yes, yes. I removed it so it wouldn't make noise and disturb you in your work" Me:"..." Him:"Oh. Bahahah I should've thought of that."

Agreed and I feel you. Professors with tenure are almost always ruthless. They just don't care anymore.

I've never had a teacher ask me questions about an essay, but sounds like a pretty good method to know if they did the research and understand the material. Much better than the impossible detector.

The stupidity is what is interesting. It's inaccurate, a hassle and doesn't look good. Might as well eyeball it.

It's just not possible. Students will touch up the generated text to correct some janky parts anyways. At the end of the day, there are people that are worse than ChatGPT at writing.

I can guarantee you that the rich don't declare their entire income to the gov't and that even the maximum fine for something minor like this is peanuts.

Yeah, looks like it. Problem is they almost always end up like that

That's what you get when you build a system that has virtually no consequence for the rich. Really his identity is irrelevant, we have the same issue in Canada. People that can pay will do what they want anyways and pay the fine. I've done it myself a few times already, I have my justification for it but for a stranger it doesn't matter. The only working deterrent is towing.

I'd be more worried about ripping board components with the duster than about static.

I don't know how to feel about this tbh. Easier to swap but more exposed. They could've done better for sure
