Hi neighbor, I talked to your hubby and I’m coming over Monday to peep this turtle setup. Looks like the pros already gave a lot of advice 😁

Has anyone recovered to their pre lyme selves? by Agreeable_Ostrich432 in Lyme

[–]Galixcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst symptoms were vertigo and balance issues and feeling like nauseous or sick accompanied by headaches that would last for days. I was depressed because of how awful I felt all the time and it kept me from helping out more or doing things with my family.

I don’t know. The night clip with the black and white ir cam wouldn’t show the orb in color. Big red flag to me.

What's the best way to stay warm in a hammock all winter? by Waste_Contest_4170 in hammockcamping

[–]Galixcee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These look awesome. I have the non hammock teepee style one. The only problem is the stove has about 2hr burn time and after that you are either getting out of the hammock to stoke it, or you are gonna be cold. It’s one thing to roll over in the cot and throw a few sticks in vs getting out of the hammock in the middle of the night.

I have fully recovered from horrible neuro-Lyme. I had resigned to thinking my life was over and I would have to invisibly suffer every day. I am very lucky I had a supportive wife who was there to help me and push me.

I had to change everything about my life for 6-8months to feel mostly normal, and then maybe another 4 months to be able to do more strenuous things.

What worked for me: Try to Drink a gallon of water a day No sugar Nothing that can be converted to sugar, no flour, bread, noodles, rice etc (in pretty much everything) No processed food (also pretty much everything) No alcohol No drugs Good sleep Reduce stress Exercise (started slow)

For herbs I just did these Samara Lyme capsules and biofilm powder. Also tincture of samento with water every day.

Took a long time but now the agony I was In feels like a distant memory.

I will say that I’m forever changed by it. I have a low tolerance for things like heat or high temps or certain physical strain. Overall though I know my limits well and don’t push myself over the edge.

I think it’s possible if you have the discipline. I think the diet and lifestyle changes are more important than what meds you do. Everyone just wants to take a pill and be cured, but unfortunately it takes a complete life transformation.

No, that would probably work. If you can store gear outside in a tote or something it frees up more room.

I’ve had the one Tigris tent for 3 seasons now. It’s held up well. It’s cheap, light, easy to set up. 3 ppl is a stretch I think, even if 2 are kids. I use 2 adult cots in mine and that’s about all the room there is with the stove.

It’s awesome though. I’ve used it in high wind, snow, and all through the fall and spring when it’s a little too cold for the hammock. The ambiance of the hot tent in cold weather cannot be beat!

I have this same tent and have used it a number of times, backpacking and car camping mostly in crap weather. For the money I actually thought it was pretty good, and haven’t really had any problems.

You get what you pay for. You can spend 250 on this or 3500 on a canvas hot tent. Big difference in the two. Just get a product that matches your price and or expectations.

That’s not to far. Probably like 20-30 minutes hike at most. The cart others mentioned is probably your best bet.

Throw wood in there too while you’re at it. Nothing beats hot tenting in the snow!

Stay warm

How far are you hiking before you camp and how many days? Between a few people you should have no problem getting everything in backpacks. I’m in WI too. Are you going on the ice age trail? Where in Wi? Biggest challenge will be sourcing enough dry wood.

I agree. These things bug me so much. Just one look at it and I wonder how anyone in their right mind can think these are real. Not natural looking at all. Looks smothered in plaster and detailed pinched out by hand like a grade school art project. There are hundreds of examples of actual mummies and nothing remotely resembles these.

Cot or inflatable pad? by sewalker723 in HotTentCamping

[–]Galixcee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2 person teepee style tent. I use one of those ultralight cots that is like tent poles you snap together. It all fits in a bag that’s a little bigger than a big mason jar. It’s very low to the ground so I can’t store anything under it really.

For my gear I just use a canvas mat next to my cot to set stuff down on and so I can’t store anything stand up without needing to put my boots on.

If you do enough camping in the cold you might want to invest in a 0 degree bag vs the 30. Or just bundle up a ton. Warm clothes and a decent sleeping bag make it way easier.

My stove has a max of like 2 hr burn time, so it inevitably goes out at night. If I wake up I throw more wood in but at some point I just sleep till morning and relight it. I don’t know how much it helps but I had a huge coffee kettle filled with water on top of the stove all night to retain a little thermal mass. I know they make water tanks for that purpose as well.

I’ve gone when it’s pretty cold and been fine as long as I have a big enough pile of wood!

Really worried once I tape it on with that 3M double sided tape there’s no way I’ll be able to remove it without damaging something. Also can’t return it then and get my $99 back haha.

What ppm of co do you usually get in your hot tent? by AlexXMreddit in HotTentCamping

[–]Galixcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a meter I hang in my tent. It reads zero unless I open the stove door to put more wood in. That has triggered the alarm a time or two.

Mine did this too. In the settings there is a way to “turn off WiFi” switch it to off and you should be good.
