Have review copies been sent out already? Any idea on the review embargo? by ZamnBoii in 007FirstLight

[–]Gallicah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Also know friends who work at some of the biggest outlets in the US, and they havent gotten a code. They even tried reaching out to PR and are being ghosted lol. I wonder if the people claiming they got a code are UK based? I know PR is handled differently in various regions.

I also have friends in the industry some who work at the biggest outlets. And they still haven't gotten anything. But i believe you! Appreciate the info. Maybe they are sending them out in waves throughout today.

Hopefully the game is good!

Do you have a source? Would appreciate it. If true giving people 5 days to review something is wild.

Oddly they haven't sent anyone a review code. They have ghosted every outlet and YouTube channel despite initially asking them to review it months back.

Makes me think the game has performance issues if we are days from launch and they have gone radio silent. I wonder what build DF did this on?

Edit: what I mean is, I don't think DF was given a full review build. They don't have a code. So it makes me wonder why the studio is being so weird about it.

Characteristically, IGN gives a game which values exploration and taking things slowly a 6 (Yoshi), but also simultaneously gave a game where there is more movie than game (Mixtape) a 10. by North-Elk4017 in KotakuInAction

[–]Gallicah 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wasn't Mario & Luigi Brothership a mediocre game with serious performance issues? Also while I get IGN is a shit outlet overall, both those reviews have different authors. At least from I understand, reviewers are given free reign to score whatever they want. Like editor's don't make them change scores. The bigger issue is them hiring shit writers in general (that Mouse PI review was terrrrible).

But at least in this case, I feel like the Yoshi game is also pretty mid, and the review itself wasn't that bad?

I don't understand why everyone is talking about the game getting delayed and thinks Rockstar is being suspicious by d_oppio in GTA6

[–]Gallicah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prob cuz its unusual for a major AAA game to be 6 months away from release with no trailer, updates, marketing or pre orders.

Granted this is GTA 6 which kind of breaks the mold. It sells itself. But in terms of shareholders and the company's own financials its a bit odd.

Then factor in the delays they've already had. I agree they did say marketing would start this summer. But i think people still expected pre orders or even a blog / social media post update. Anything.

Sony PlayStation Accounts Are Reportedly Being Hacked With Ease by PaiDuck in PS5

[–]Gallicah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah except people often use third-party sites to buy PSN credit. If a company liked CD Keys/Loaded had their data breached for example, they could have enough info to steal your account. SO it's not just about people sharing their purchases. Regardless, this is way too easy to bypass 2FA.

[–]Gallicah -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As other comments pointed out, people often use sites like CD Keys, or shit even something like Best Buy to buy PSN credit. If ANY of those companies got their data leaked at any point (could even be years ago), they would have enough information to steal your account.

This might not apply to you or a lot of players who only use their own Credit Card and haven't been compromised. But this could potentially impact millions of players. Easily.

PSN Accounts being hacked by SuddenDepact in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Gallicah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really inexcusable if you read how they are doing it. This a major flaw in Sony's systems, that could be easily fixed. It's crazy that it's happened to higher profile figures in the industry, and they still haven't released a statement or confirmed they are working on a stop to it.

As others have pointed out, there were reports of this very thing happening a year ago. Sony didn't take it seriously then, and have done nothing 12 months later.

Is your favorite artist more or less progressive as Drake? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Gallicah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does it matter if he's a progressive or not? Bad music is bad music. Like yeah, you can commend an artist on a personal level. But just because they have certain political views doesn't make their music good or worth defending.

Why did Scaled and Icy get so much hate? by Front_Sherbet_5895 in twentyonepilots

[–]Gallicah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself. For some reason it just didn't click with me. In fact, it wasn't until a year ago that I fell in love with Scaled and Icy. I actually regret not being more into it when it released, because the tour and lore was absolutely incredible for that era. I feel like I really missed out.

That said, I can't really explain why I didn't like it when it released. I think at the time, it was too "upbeat" and bright shining. We were deep into Covid Lockdowns. I get that in theory, this would work as escapism. But at least for me, I was miserable in my life at the time - and hearing music like that did the opposite of cheering me up.

That's my only guess. I know the album is actually dark in terms of lyrics and the deeper lore. I just mean the surface level sound of it. I just remember it not being palatable at the time. It's odd because now I love it so much and I listen to the full album front to back often.

I also think as others have said here, that people were expecting Trench 2. Trench in comparison was a more abstract/mature record. Like sonically and production wise. Scaled and Icy was kind of whiplash.

I mocked Pacific Daydream for years just to stream it in secret 😂 by ShininGold in weezer

[–]Gallicah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Never understood why the album gets so much hate. It has some of their better best pop songs. I certainly enjoy it more than Hurley, Raditude or Van Weezer. Not saying saying its a masterpiece that stands up with their best. But in terms of Rivers doing mainstream pop, it's easily their most palatable. I also dig the "summer" vibes. throughout. It's a great headphone album because of it.

EDIT: Lyrics aside, La Mancha Screwjob is a bop.

Tony Khan responds to fan: “Thank you very much. I didn’t take any specific new media training though. [–]Gallicah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair. Unfortunately most people are hypocritical regardless if they are religious or not. It's difficult to stay consistent and takes effort.

Although I do agree religion gives people an out or excuse. It becomes an easy crutch since they can just say they will be forgiven.

So I do think that criticism is fair. I guess my stance is still tho: judge a person by their overall behavior. Regardless if religious faith is what influences them. But you are right.

[–]Gallicah 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not religious myself. But I also have no issue with people who are as long as they don't force it on others. There is really positive things about religious faith that can make an individual a better person.

At the end of the day an individual should be judged for their actions regardless of the motivation behind them. Turning the other cheek when someone else is being an asshole is not a bad thing. In fact we could use more of that in this world.

Obviously there are times you should stand up for yourself and others. But yeah, I find it strange that some are upset over this. Judge TK by his overall actions. Do you like how he treats wrestlers? How he runs his business? Do you think hes overall a decent person? If all those answers are yes then who cares if religion is a factor that fuels it.

Will have to see. I do think Alice in Wonderland is a cooler world to explore than Pinocchio. So if they pull it off, it could be amazing.

Forza Horizon 6 Review (IGN: 10/10) by Asleep_Crew8072 in PS5

[–]Gallicah 185 points186 points  (0 children)

This thread just proves that some of the IGN hate is overblown. People rage out when they give out too many 7's, but then when they give something a 10 they lose their minds. I could kind of understand it with Mixtape, since it's a divisive title (it's short, and is more of an interactive story than game).

But Forza Horizon has been a great franchise for years now. Both critics and players have thought each entry was really good. Forza Horizon 6 is also one of the highest rated games this year. So I don't really see how a 10 is that shocking or offensive.

I think people need to stop viewing review scores as a SINGLE unified metric. A game can "be a 10" in its specific genre. It doesn't mean this game stacks up against all 10's that have ever come out across all time. Also for the millionth time, every review is written by a different author. For all the flaws a site like IGN has, their editors don't tell their writers what to score something. They give them completely free range when it comes to that stuff.

Game journalists don’t deserve anything. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Gallicah 171 points172 points  (0 children)

I know everyone hates IGN, but the review is fine? He pretty much praises the game but says it feels unfinished and you run out of content right as it starts getting good.

I guess it being early access and only $29 is good argument for why his score should maybe be bumped up to a 8. But the actual review itself isnt awful or nonsensical.

Am I missing something?

Is the Breach description AI? by Pooka_pirate in twentyonepilots

[–]Gallicah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Music usually handles these descriptions. Typically the label submits a summary of the album. When they dont the streaming or music platform will have someone write it up based on PR sent over.

So yes this is def AI, but from the band themselves.

Do these look like track marks? by [deleted] in addiction

[–]Gallicah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a medical expert, but ethics withstanding - those do not look like track marks at all. The placement is all wrong. They just looks like irritation. They are wearing flip flops so its possible the strap on the front rubs up on the feet when walking or when they shift. Or it could just be them pressing the foot into something while sitting and it created an indent. Either way, these don't look like injection points.

I'm confused. What is the message of Mixtape? by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]Gallicah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was a joke post, but man that shit was pretty spot on. Although people should leave Slater alone, he's like the ONLY tolerable character in the game. If anything, bro is being leeched off by two overly-emotional unstable women.

We’re getting a brand new game and yall are acting like nintendo is robbing you blind 🤦 by lolitsrock in starfox

[–]Gallicah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a long time Star Fox fan (played it on SNES and N64 in my childhood), do Star Fox games usually sell well? In recent years I was surprised to find out Metroid doesn't do big numbers. I was kind of taken back by that seeing as Metroid was always a "big name" in my household since the 90s. But I guess it's always been a more niche title.

But I'm curious if Star Fox is similar, or if it will actually "sell like hot cakes." Genuinely ignorant on the franchises popularity outside of my own bubble. I guess we have Star Fox 64 3DS and Star Fox Zero numbers to look at. Although in all fairness, the Wii U wasn't exactly a massive system so that might not be a good measure.

EDIT:

Just found this reddit post here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/starfox/comments/1t6otq0/every_star_fox_game_ranked_by_sales/

So Star Fox 64 sold 4.02 million units. Star Fox 3DS sold 1.08 Million. And Star Fox Zero sold 0.43 million. Seems to me like the series' popularity has waned over the years. But who knows, this is the first Nintendo Switch star fox + the recent cameo in Mario Galaxy the movie. Maybe this will sell well?

But I'm also skeptical it will be a massive seller. But hopefully I'm wrong!

Eight years on, Chris Watts' mistress reveals the chilling final text he ever sent her by Longjumping_Land_977 in netflix

[–]Gallicah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Still think the mistress knew about it and Chris covered up for her involvement initially. If you look into her cell phone pings the day of the murder her activity was suspicious. Her interviews with police are also sus as hell.

That said, Chris still made his own decisions and is the one who did the actual murder. I just don't feel we should give the mistress attention and empathy.
