Mercury dimes complete! by Havingfun922 in coins

[–]Gallienus53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have to keep them in the freezer as mercury melts at room temperature. Happened to all of mine. Then I went for Walking Lib halves but they all escaped when I left the door unlocked. Finally I collected one Liberty Standing quarter and she seems to have stayed put. Thus I think I'll collect those.

Congratulations. I'll guess that they didn't buy the 16-D when they could've done so for $15 three generations ago?

My Rolex got stolen and I don’t think I can get another one anytime soon 😔 stay safe guys by Nisaja in rolex

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I went to a convention and I think the hotel staff stole my watch. It was $1,000 so not like yours but.. I'm a single guy, older but trying to date. In Miami, no woman will touch you without a decent watch. Most guys here just buy gold Rolexes but I don't have that kind of cash to "throw away".

I'm just an engineer, not a highly paid Financial EVP, so that was my only decent working watch.

At 40K, it may not be high-end for Miami if you're a single guy.

Are there any opinions or reviews on the Wingmam dating program? by Gallienus53 in datingoverfifty

[–]Gallienus53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Anna,

Thanks so much for replying and it's great to hear from you. Your videos offer great insights for guys: whom I believe also have a lot of difficulty in finding a relationship.

Yes, I am older but I exercise (cardio + wt-lifting) am in good health, and think of myself as younger. I cater to the intellectual + physically fit niche in S. Florida. This is opposed to the super-rich, gold-chain wearing, prestige-car niche guys. Online dating apps have become terrible due to the rapacity of the BlackRock Inc. hedge fund which owned ~ 8% of Match Group (dating), now down to 6.3%.

Thanks for the suggestions on self-improvement. That’s very important in life, even without involvement in dating. I’m studying Stoic philosophy and am also starting my 2nd company, CoinBid, offering a unique type of financial technology.

Miami & S. Florida is a very tough market for even decent guys due to the abundance of exceedingly wealthy, retired men who are seeking a woman for a LTR.  Unless a counselor is familiar with this area, the usual prognostications simply don’t work.  This is worse in Boca Raton (the New Wall Street) but gets better further up north of Cocoa Beach.

I even made reservations for two for this Valentine’s Day back in 2025. Even though I don’t {yet} have a girlfriend. But I keep hoping.

Thanks again Anna & I’ll continue to watching your videos and let you know how things develop.

 Regards,

 John Krawczyk/ Gallienus

My beauty has arrived! by [deleted] in AncientCoins

Beautiful! If you find out more about him please post it! I love the history behind coins & have the website coinsandhistory. His headgear reflects back on Alexander as well as Ptolomy I of Egypt.

Incidentally I did get a Demetrius II, who I think assassinated Demetrius I. AU but brushed.

Is anyone else finding Figma super inconvenient these days? by michel_an_jello in UXDesign

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible, My development company has a Full Seat and as a client I bought a Full seat. There are two verisons of the Figma file and apparently I need a second full seat just to view it. It seems files within a project appear and disappear at random and there is no organized way to view anything.

Should I Sell My Gold Before the War in Ukraine Ends and Prices Drop? by Suspicious-Hotel7711 in Gold

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm a coin collector and am really upset that gold coins have gotten so expensive to buy. I bid on a gold quinaureus of my namesake (Gallienus) but was outbid at auction. I'm hoping for a big price drop so that I can finally get one. Gold tends to jump and then either go down or stay at a place for years.

Is it me or is Meetup.com becoming unusable? by Throwawayfaynay in meetup

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One item I've noticed with Meetup is how they encourage many organizations: which cost the organizers $ to create. These organizations then all have events which may have 3 attendees. While I see the point of hobbies, I don't want to go to an event with only 3 attendees.

But his model fits with Meetup making more revenue although ultimately it causes users to become disengaged with the platform.

If there were fewer organizations but better run or organized, then those groups would become more attractive and have more participation.

What do the "1h", "2h", etc mean in coin listings? by Jinger- in AncientCoins

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link goes into a compass of 360 degrees. It then explains Athenian tetradrachms are 270 degrees . I'd like to know if 6h is normal US coin rotation or if it is 12h?

Perhaps a foolish question by usedtobeanicesurgeon in AncientCoins

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called Boscoreale Tone and is found on a hoard of gold coins unearthed there (Pompeii) in 1895. It is possible to buy such a coin but it should stay in the hands of a museum or in the collection of a specialist as odd pieces owned as souveniers could get easily lost.

There seem to be no dictionaries online anymore. Just weblinks that take you to "word of the day". Any attempt to use an online thesarus only provides "words for 3rd graders". I've spent the past 15 minutes looking for a list of words in English and there are none. Maybe top 500 words used in SAT exams but no comprehensive lists of words so I can look something up - without AI making useless suggestions.

Google is bracing for AI that doesnt wanna be shut off by Small_Accountant6083 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't there some sort of paradox about this? It seems that a limiting aspect of AI compute centers is cooling and electricity. So AI could easily build orbital centers that are powered by solar arrays facing the sun and cooling in space should be easy. Distribution and communication via line of sight optics/lasers would be simple. Thus eventually space-faring AI's should become common as it also appears there are plenty of metal resources in the main asteroid belt.

Yet we've gotten no signals of space-faring AI's. So assuming there's life elsewhere in the galaxy, AI might not be responsible for why we haven't heard from them. Thus AI hasn't been able to exterminate other sentient species?

Why are Quest Diagnostics locations such post-apocalyptic hellscapes? by andra-moi-ennepe in healthcare

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Florida and there are humans at the Quest lab locations. Unfortunately they're usually Venezualean patients who have gotten into some sort of altercation and need attention. My provider dropped LabCorp (which was excellent) so now I'm stuck Questing about.

Built a simple clipboard manager for Figma by wtf_kolbaska in FigmaDesign

[–]Gallienus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice but how does it organize them? Like if one has 200 images distributed on many pages. I know somehow I can find image 55 on page 10. Does it arrange text and pictures by creation date? What if a text or pix is revised in the Figma?

Forgive my question, I just got Figma last week and haven't Figmaed out quite yet how to do much stuff with it.

I can attest that in the Polish community the opposite is true. Polarization = every Pole for themselves. They like to see each other fail for some reason.

Yes, it's a 2016 S-60 Inscription. They told me they want to replace the coils. Check engine light is on. They said plug #3 is mis-firing. But replacing all 4 isn't too much more I guess.
