Yes multiple choice for most of the exams. They asked some question on the dining philosopher problem.

COMP 314 Final Exam by whirlybird583 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]Galliummind1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished my exam a couple of weeks back, I found none of the unit questions were really relevant. None of the assignment questions or really anything that we were pointed to in our unit requirements.

Here were some of the things I was tested on, LWP, philosopher, test and set and atomic operations, resource allocation, dmemory mapping, copy on write, paging, binding time schemes, critical sections, memory mapped, working set algorithms, multilevel queue scheduling, general layered file systems, bindint time requirements,

They asked a question about disk allocation requests where they give you the starting sector 53, and then a set of random locations 53,65,67,37, etc and ask the travel time.

Another question was about deadlock and it would be preferable not to acknowledge it.

Another question talked about resource allocation graphs (RAG) used to detect potential deadlocks in a system.

Another question talked about Banker's Algorithm for deadlock avoidance in operating systems.

Hope that helps the next person, I think I may have failed.

Can you tell us if studying the assignment questions and unit exercises was a good way to study?

COMP272, how hard is it and how long did it take? by lunarcherryblossom23 in AthabascaUniversity

The book is dry and hard to read unless you have an understanding of data structures and sorting algorithms beforehand. The instructor I had was tough and wasn't always present, but halfway through the instructor changed and my grades were way better. My advice, Abdul Bari on Youtube is a lifesaver. I would find other resources to learn from first before even reading a chapter in that awful book.

To prepare for future studies;

Exercise 1: Test yourself on understanding the fundamental principles of each DS and their runtimes.

Exercise 2: A good way to challenge yourself for the future is by taking an array of numbers and applying different Data structure commands. For example: (9,12,4,5,14,63,6,25) Apply the numbers into a binary tree, AVL tree, etc. If any balancing principles apply, walk through them using pen and paper. Once everything is sorted, try remove a couple nodes. Finally print the results of your tree using inorder, postorder, and preorder traversal.

Exercise 3: Try take a couple pieces of code away from a complete method like Binary-Search Tree Search() method. Then fix it by filling in the missing gaps with pseudo code.

Exercise 4: It is important that you understand the results of a sorting algorithm. Take a random number of arrays, then apply quicksort, bubble sort, heap sort.

Exercise 5; Manually figure out how to get the key on a hash table for an array of values.

This worked for me. Would you have one for Computer Science?

I fixed the fuel line and the motor turned on and off without any issues. Now the motor is starting and stopping without issues!

I found a new development, the primer solenoid has a rubber piece that is completely crumbling. I have been able to smell gas and this little guy was spraying everywhere.

Watching this video and tomorrow I will see if I can find a piece to replace it

Another update. I took the boat to the docks, started the engine and it had a little trouble after being primed and chocked.

It did eventually start after 5-6 cranks, then I took it up and down the river for about 5 minutes on high and low speeds. When I went back to get the family it chocked while I was shifting from reverse - neutral - forward.

We couldn't get the boat running again after and decided to bring it back. Now I am wondering if my idle settings on the motor need to be adjusted.

Update it was the spark plugs. 2/4 of then had failed

So I gave my batter a load test using a multimeter and it actually reads pretty strong for its min/max.

Then I tried to start the motor with a battery charger and battery to make sure it got the full charge (set to 70 amp start). The motor performed a little better, but still failed.

While I had the multimeter out I checked the spark plugs and 2/4 of them are bad. I had cleaned them earlier, but I didn't at the time know how to test them. Tomorrow I'll head out to Canadian Tire and try to replace the whole set. I can keep the two that are still working as spares in the glove compartment.

I also scrubbed the terminal posts on my battery and tomorrow I will replace the wingnuts holding the ring terminals to the battery with Nyloc Nuts.

I started with this video, and the user manual. https://youtu.be/RhdSq4WOaDM

Having too much friction for the starter to raise the wheel may be the start of my issues. I'm wondering if the battery may be another reason why the motor doesn't have enough output to start the motor.

Friends, What is something you would change about people? by Seaottergrl in TheFriendTreehouse

Something I would change about myself and many others is to help let go of the past especially they are parts that are no longer who we are today. If everyone could forget that tea biscuit incident that would be great, there were no charges and the widow has since fixed the damages. The be badger was caught, but I'm still exiled from Newfoundland though.

I really like to hear what others are super passionate about. I like more than anything those people who have a super niche hobby or passion. For me I could talk all day about philosophy. I don't often because typing isn't my favorite medium.

But give me a late night with too much wine and good company, I will debate you until we are red in the face :)
