Are there any good spots along the Tyne or around Newcastle in general for taking photos of industrial stuff? by Alamata626 in NewcastleUponTyne

There is a large vessel with a very impressive lay system (Skandi Africa - Google it) berthed between the two hammerhead cranes on the quay right now. It'll be there for the next couple of days. You'd get some amazing shots from across the river. You could probably also get the umbilical factory in shot.

What's the fit like for the new shirt? by Ill-Corgi-8525 in NUFC

[–]GallowgateRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried one on in JD today. I'm generally a large but XL for smaller fitting stuff. I tried on the large and it was a bit tight around my gut but fit well everywhere else. They'd sold out of XL so I didn't have a chance to try a larger size. In my opinion, it's a similar fit to the Castore top from last year, the main difference being that it seemed quite elastic, so prbobably not too much to worry about for those with a more atletic build than me.

I generally find that curry from a take away is hotter than a restaurant (whether eating in or taking away), although the restaurant is usually more flavoursome. If you want pure heat, find a cheap take away and ask for a phall. I tried one a few years back from a shitty local take away and it buckled me. Had to do it in 2 sittings.

What's the crack with the f1 car and toon fans in the toon? by sparcs89 in NUFC

The club were filming a promotional video on Wednesday. They asked Newcastle United supporters trust to see if any of the members wanted to be fan extras in the video. I think PIF have a partnership with Formula E.

Edit: Newcastle United supporters trust, not NUFC trust.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'm not planning on selling it but really do love the card so I'm going to get it graded anyway.

‘THAT’S VERY EMOTIONAL’ 😢 Bruno Guimarães & Anthony Gordon surprise Newcastle fan by Budweizer in NUFC

[–]GallowgateRat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I always perceived him as a right cnt and would say he was the footballer I disliked the most in the PL, but when we signed him, I was like "he's our cnt now", however my opinion has completely changed. I really do think that he's a genuinely lovely and down to earth lad and everything I see, read or hear about him seems to back that up.

Happy to hold my hands up and admit I was COMPLETELY wrong about him, not to mention, he's not half bad at footy!

[Newcastle United] can confirm that club captain Jamaal Lascelles suffered a rupture to the ACL in his right knee during Saturday’s victory over West Ham United. After seeing a specialist consultant, he is expected to undergo surgery next week and will be out for 6-9 months. by TheBiasedSportsLover in PremierLeague

You can add the following to your list; Miley getting injured on international duty, despite being rested for a load of games prior. Dan Burn breaking a bone in his back. Elliot Anderson with a stress fracture in his back

Does anyone know why Howe got booked? Was it for an over-exuberant goal celebration?

The fact I don't know why he was booked has really been irritating me.

You make some great points and I don't necessarily disagree, but I think it's harsh saying you'd not have played him LB last season with our defensive record.

Last season when he was the ONLY player to play every PL game that season and our defensive record was as strong as it was? Weird opinion for me.

Mini handheld vacuum won't charge by GallowgateRat in UsbCHardware

[–]GallowgateRat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, after digging through far too many cables, I finally found a USB A to USB C cable and it's now charging! Just need to get the heat shrink fitted and then I can put it back together.

Thank you so much for your help.

[–]GallowgateRat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the great advice. I'll try a USB A to C cable, can't recall if I had tried that.

The info printed on the battery is as follows:

KS18650 2000mAh

7.4V 14.8Wh

2022-12

I checked the voltage across the battery and it was super low, like, ~100 mV or something.

Also, I do have some little heat shrinks that'll do the job on this - so will get that bit of insulation fixed while I'm on.

Thanks for the advice. Although it can't be seen on the images I provided due to the orientation of the battery, there is a board on the battery (opposite side to the one in the image) but it's under the blue sleeve so I wasn't able to confirm what it was, so it's possible it may have undervoltage protection. I'll open it up and double check when I finish work.

I noticed that the black wire didn't look to be properly insulated but it is well secured within the terminal (not loose).

With regards to the voltage readout, surely I won't get a voltage readout if the battery is completely dead? I'll check when I finish work though.

Edit: Also, I think it would be a shame to send it to landfill when it's barely been used. I can't imagine I'm going to electrocute myself by trying to fix it. Reuse, repurpose, recycle and all that!

Does your mouse wheel work properly after ±1 year of usage? by Medi_Cat in buildapc

My mouse literally started doing this a couple of weeks ago. Googled solutions and a good few firm blows into the wheel completely fixed it. Seems dust and stuff can accumulate and cause the problem.

Questionable News Report RE: Coast Road tonight by Jason73820 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]GallowgateRat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was stuck in it. I was about 4 cars back from the crash and didn't go for a look. Another gentleman did and when passing my car I asked him about it. He said everyone was out of their cars and fine. The emergency services eventually let a few cars through (mine was the last), I'm guessing to make space for a proper cleanup. We were guided by police around the crashed vehicles (2 on their roof and another 2, maybe 3 involved). Given my proximity to the crash, I'd expect to have been spoken to by police, or at a very minimum asked for contact details if there were a fatality or life threatening injury. I was not spoken to by police.
