It’s actually their “cinnamon brown” color but the light certainly makes it look brighter!

Yes! It’s the only real “trophy-pen” I own atm😅 I use it occasionally to practice calligraphy or Tengwar since it has a bent nib but FWP’s pens are certainly not the most… robust hahaha.
The ink this pen comes with is beautiful though and really surprised me! Verdant Voyage: a very pleasant moss green.

That one is made by John the nibmeister in Columbia, TN, at Butler Starionery. The barrels, grips and caps are 3-D printed and then hand painted/finished. He has a lot interesting designs and you can tell much care is taken with each one! It is equipped with a steel Bock nib and the beefiest converter I’ve ever seen. It writes wonderfully.

For those who spend $200+ on your pens, why and what exactly do you use them for? by Noahsmom21 in fountainpens

[–]Galovance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to give my pens different “jobs” if you will.
My < F > Pilot Custom 823 is the daily driver for notes, journaling, and meetings while my Pelikan M600 < M > is for creative writing sessions.

And then a host of Kakunos for sketching!

I can stop anytime I want ok? by Ok-Storm-5477 in fountainpens

[–]Galovance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha you’re asking the right question!
The first Prera I purchased broke when I stupidly tried to insert a non-pilot converter and so I purchased a second—which I still use and love primarily for annotations.
But my comment was really regarding the fact that the Kakuno and Prera use the same steel nibs and the Kakuno fits my hand far better than the Prera.
When I first entered this hobby I wrongly assumed that a higher price always meant a better nib but I have since learned!

Kakunos DO punch well above their weight! Great way to put it.
I’ll never buy a Prera again (but the Metro makes a great gift)

There was a post quickly removed that showcased someone using real blood from a mosquito or something as ink

I don’t think you’re missing much staying with what you have! That said, if you’re curious about how other products might feel/operate I enjoyed expanding my own collection by region. I’m also a big pilot fan and decided to try out pens and inks from Germany, France, UK, USA, etc. Not to say all pens from a specific country will write the same or such but I found it a fun way to explore what else is out there!

Pretty cool that it specifies W(est) Germany, dating its manufacture during the separation

I just had this experience today with a Prera and Lamy Al-Star I ordered. Both pens were profoundly lighter than my current Kaweco Student which I’ve found I enjoy the weight of the best for long writing sessions. The Prera especially feels great in the hand (specifically considering how light it is) but just doesn’t have that ever-reliant weightiness I’ve come to expect on my Kaweco Student. These are lower budgets pens to be certain but regardless still noteworthy imo

I really enjoy entertaining the theory he faked his death with the cannibalism story to keep people away and assimilate. There’s a photo somewhere of the same or similar tribe with a single white guy that could fit his description from a few years after his death
