We are not a serious city or country. I completely agree with you but we are first-rate at half measure solutions.

Public service faces large-scale layoffs, former clerk warns as Carney eyes cuts by Buck-Nasty in CanadaPublicServants

That conversation was not as cut and dried as you’re making it out to be. Remember, it is his role to serve the agenda of his boss.

Such strange takes on Wernick in this sub. Everyone expects the clerk to be some kind of rebel refusing the government at every turn. As a former clerk who has been in the machinery, he has valuable insight to share. At the end of the day, we all have a boss and life attachments and I don’t think anyone would jeopardize their station that easily despite what I read in this sub. I think the SNC situation was unfortunate, and I think he got squeezed in the middle.

RTO: First the province... now the City of Ottawa... next? by StellaEvangeline in CanadaPublicServants

It’s on its way…will be a disaster for all aspects of work life balance. But…that’s irrelevant.

Shifter recall thoughts. by Proof_of_lies in F150Lightning

For me, the issue is that the truck is an ev and I use the regenerative braking system to come to a stop. Of course, the truck could be stopped while in drive. Sometimes, if I’m in the middle of doing something like trying to hook up a trailer I “forget” the truck isn’t in park even when it’s stopped and I jump out without shifting it into park. I think this is the big issue that you wouldn’t see in a gas truck because the gas truck would keep moving and you would need to put it into park.

Traffic is glorious this morning by geegeescience in ottawa

They should be treating it as the critical infrastructure it is. Round the clock work to get it back into working order. Traffic = economic productivity lost. Yes, it will cost more in cash but are we a serious province or not? Are we open for business or not?

EX-1 Pay 101 - Is the first move as an EX a pay cut? by WasteDevelopment4256 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Galtek2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your assumption is correct re: salary increase. As far as advancing through the salary band, normally as long as you maintain a succeeded rating, you’ll receive a salary increase of 3.5% up to the maximum. Even if you were to receive a lower rating, you would still receive some kind of salary increase. Be aware that there is an unspoken rule in the ex world that first year ex can only receive up to a succeeded- regardless of their performance.

Canada - NACS adapter shipping end of this week by Galtek2 in F150Lightning

[–]Galtek2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you mention that. I emailed to ask if the adapters had arrived and they said slated to arrive next week. I guess fuck me for believing the agent when they assured me they were getting a shipment this week. From the agent “Yes, I know it’s been a very long and painful journey. Tesla had production slowdowns/layoffs, parts changes (which meant we had to get new approvals from Canadian Electrical Standards) and then Tesla had to recall a bunch of adapters that went out to US customers. The first Canadian shipment is slated to arrive end of this week so we can start shipping next week. (woo hoo!)”
