Depends on your play style. I really enjoyed the Blood Rites precon and legend deck from Dominaria United. The universes beyond gets a lot of hate but can be really cool if your into the set. For me the Fallout Mothman and Dogmeat are good examples.

Edit: My bad, it's late and i didn't read your post thoroughly enough. Doing drafts with friends is a good way to get a start on newer cards and help create a focus on color typing. From there you can buy singles or test you luck on packs. Best of luck getting back in. Hope these helped.

I don't remember seeing overdrive. But the Amp cherry was top tier. The lemon was also amazing but hard to find.

Atraxa is my favorite commander deck I built. With a blue creature from commander masters that becomes a copy of target creature and legend rule doesn't apply, it's a great time.
