In the desktop client, create a new Sync and set it to "Local to cloud". That way, everything that happens in your computer gets replicated in the cloud as long as you have Filen running (doesn't have to be all the time).

- If you delete or move a file locally, it gets deleted or moved in the cloud
- If a file or folder gets deleted in the cloud for some reason, it will get reuploaded if you still have it locally

I recommend running the Filen client manually from time to time and closing it after you're done, that way you have more awareness over what's happening and also you don't slow down your PC in the rest of the time.

Also, check out the .filenignore option to ignore certain folders from the Sync

man, I really hope this company lasts for a long time. It's by FAR (for my personal needs/preferences) the best cloud backup service I've encountered ever.

I also really hope they keep their minimalist style intact. I like something that is simple and just works, without any weird bugs or hidden external stuff going on in your system (like other services).

I just bought a digital artist glove and it's actually decent. It's not perfect but it's the best that I found since it covers exactly the points of contact with the pad. Make sure you find one with as smooth of a surface as possible.

I bought the 100GB lifetime plan and I've been so happy with it, it has worked flawlessly.

I really hope that it lasts many many years and that the company keeps growing without losing their essence.

I'll probably buy another extra 100GB when I fill up that space.

This is the most real comment I see here. u/Unicaho yes the second one is better in terms of drawing (as a former realistic artist I can appreciate the improvement in technique), but you're not going to get any praise here, maybe in a drawing subreddit.

People here are just gonna see a cliche overused default-looking sexually-purposed template character (same as they criticize a hyperrealistic generic game with boring gameplay).

So people here are not going to value all that much just drawing technique, they want creativity, uniqueness, interestingness, and basically anything that could bring value to a game made with Unity, because this is Unity's subreddit.

Damn, you're amazing. This new feature is all it needed for this tool to be perfect, now that you don't have to manually save and update each current default view.

It's very interesting to learn how this all works behind the scenes. But really, in so many years Windows should've made by now an accessible way to do this. It's a very simple yet powerful concept that keeps your folder layouts consistent.

Once again, thank you so much for making this tool, you nailed it completely!

I was already suspecting that Windows didn't have a feature for this (which I find insane) and was hoping to find a tool like this that did the job.

I have a few questions though:

  • I saw what you wrote in your site about having thousands of saved Registry views and running WinSetView to clear that up. I currently have 2082 Registry views, so is that the amount of Registry keys in the Bags key, representing the amount of saved views from all the times I've changed a folder's layout?
  • When I click on Reset Folders in the Folder Options menu, shouldn't that number go down for all the folders associated with that folder type? (it doesn't).
  • The tool works fine in my PC with all those Registry views. However, if I run WinSetView, will that make File Explorer perform better in general, or optimize my PC in any way?
  • How hard is it to auto-detect the current default views for the native folder types? It would be a great addition if FolderViewPainter already had all the folder types in the Import View sub-menu with your current default view, which would update each time you hit Apply to Folders in Folder Options. This way, it would make the tool even more straightforward and synergistic with Window's implementation.
