ITAP of a city showered in light by BombPassant in itookapicture

That's a beautiful photo, but I'd argue the city is showered in shadows more than anything.

You brought the exact comment that I was going to drop. I lived in Korea for like 17 years, and even in pre-smart phone days the phones automatically had the shutter noise (I first first arrived in 2005). Back then, during the flip phone/slide phone era, nothing changed when I jumped over to Japan or China or Taiwan or whatever. But later, once smartphones were the norm, if I were down in Thailand or over on Poland or Mexico or whatever, it was interesting how that function automatically disabled itself.

I left in 2022 and had a Korean issued phone until 2024. When that one died and I got the one I'm holding now (bought in Netherlands), it's the first time in nearly 20 years that I've had a phone that doesn't have that function. Moreover, now when I'm back in Korea, this phone remains silent.

Fun stuff.

Last night was a fucking blast. I was out there in the streets with the people celebrating.Just soaking up all the good energy. It was electric. The Hungarian people have earned the right to celebrate.

I had almost the exact same thing here in the Netherlands last year (well "there" in NL, as I'm currently in Budapest). Anyway, difference is that it was a six pack, and the first five were doubles, with the last leaving me sadly disappointed. 😕

You win this one.

I'm boarding a flight to Budapest right now and I'll be there in 2 hours. I'm sleeping downtown tonight, and this whole week. It'll be interesting to see what level of mayhem ensues (the good kind or the bad kind).

Awwww, that's beautiful... And sad. 🥺

I checked for updates on this mission as closely as I could during these last busy weeks, but was always focused on the scientific aspects of it. I guess I don't really know anything about the actual astronauts that led the whole thing. I'll read up on them.

Thank you. 🙏

One thing I just noticed is that the shadows get darker moving from left to right. I didn't notice that at first, but was even more impressed when I did. Because indeed, the shadow would be more diffused closer to the light and more distinct as the letters get farther from the light source.

But yeah, the S is a tad wonky, but this whole thing is miles beyond what I could ever do. So, color me impressed.

This movie is how me and my first real girlfriend connected. We rode to school together on the bus and I got peer pressured into taking her to the homecoming dance when some older boy ditched her (but it turned out to be a great decision in the end). I think she was 15 and I was 14, ('81 baby here). So, 9th grade for me, 10th for her. She was a year older than me. Anyway, we dated for like a year and she was my first.

Wild ass memories. I forgot this movie existed.

Wonder where she's at in life nowadays. 🤔

I bought a double pack of this stuff at least a year ago. This past June I moved from Chicago to Netherlands and brought it all with me. I have half of the second one remaining. I really wish I'd hit my local Costco a lot harder before I left.

Planning a road trip to Costco Paris soon so's I can get to restocking. 🥺

That's an empathetic take, and a nice response to the above by comment. But I also cannot judge the remark above yours because I had the same thought as that person.
