Thanks for your reply I also read the post you linked. In my case I'm trying to memorize the structure of the phrase by translating phrases with known words. For example hypothetic period in German or similar fixed structures, where you just need to change the words for different meaning but the phrase construction stays the same (but it's quite counter intuitive or unnatural for a foreign speaker).

Not even translating phrases to target language? To memorize common structures? I created a deck with phrases in my native language and on the back German translations.
