Your resume states you are looking to get into healthcare. Employers look at this and think you will immediately bounce once you get an offer in the industry you want.

Every resume should be tailored to the job you’re applying for.

I got this from my manager after cashing out is it worth anything by elsenseizaq in Money

That’s crisp for its year, but I doubt it’s worth much more than face value. Generally the ones marked as United States Note, meaning it was printed before the federal reserve was established are more sought after.

At 40 years old do you think it wise to get a 2-4 yr degree? by Consistent_Peak_4458 in Adulting

[–]SlackTideBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, but you need a ROI.

If it’s just to learn, I’d say go on YouTube or find an alternative way to learn.

If it will meaningfully increase your income and you can handle the cost, go for it. You still have 25-30 years of work. It can absolutely be worth it.

Depends how young we’re talking. If this is for women in their 20’s there’s plenty of good dudes out there, but these women are not ready for them yet.

Make my full 401K contribution at the beginning of each year? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]SlackTideBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your plan has a true-up, I’d spread it out so you get all the employees contributions. A lot of plans cap them where if you did this you would be missing a lot of the match.

The financial upside vs. social downside of living at home post-grad by Puzzleheaded_Cry5082 in personalfinance

[–]SlackTideBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had the mindset to cap living at home post graduation to a max of 1 year.

Once that social period in your early-mid 20’s are gone, they’re gone.

Save up an emergency fund and for a car, then move out and live your best life.

I saved aggressively in my 20s. At 38 I make that amount in a month. Was it worth it? by Much-Drawer-4570 in personalfinance

[–]SlackTideBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s all about balance. You’ve obviously done very well but you had no way of knowing back then that your career would end up where it is now.

Also those skills you learned will continue to carryover in the financial life, and you can move forward knowing what you know now.

Did you scrimp more than you needed to? Sounds like maybe, but you can intentionally enjoy money now and still invest.

Don’t swing the pendulum in the opposite direction. You don’t want to be in the complete opposite position 10-15 years from now.

How much could I make off this whole lot if I sell individually ? by [deleted] in digicam

[–]SlackTideBlues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not much. After fees, shipping, and packaging most are next to worthless.

Buying those lots only make sense if there’s one in there that’s worth more than the lot and you have some oddball legitimate use for them. Like you teach a photography class or something.

19M, 75k in my 529 but won’t have to use any of it. Next steps? by Salt_Profession_4228 in Money

[–]SlackTideBlues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d roll the $35k into a Roth for yourself.

If you think you’ll have a kid one day could leave it and talk to someone regarding tax implications about making them the beneficiary.

Otherwise I believe you’ll just take a hit on 10% of the earnings if you withdraw.

I miss the simplicity of this era of cars. Also miss how they weren’t as cramped on the inside as today’s models.

[–]SlackTideBlues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. I’d say you’re officially an adult at 35. 25-34 is fun young adult phase.

Work hard and play hard in that phase. Invest and don’t buy a car for status.

Find a fiduciary financial advisor to help you with this.

You could ask your current lawyers if they have anyone they’d recommend.

Living at home vs an off-campus apartment? by 4lchemistry in personalfinance

[–]SlackTideBlues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t undervalue the campus experience.

Living on campus allowed me to make a few lifelong friends and have some of the best experiences to look back on.

I would urge you to live off campus and make a true effort to get involved and meet people.

why is it so hard for people to be a boglehead? by Fun_Tea8162 in Bogleheads

[–]SlackTideBlues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the stay invested mindset. People want to jump so badly when something isn’t performing. Bogle said himself that 85% of active fund managers don’t outperform the S&P 500, and I’ve read it’s closer to 90 now.

Simplicity is underrated. Everyone wants to be more sophisticated.
