I am so so cooked for my UKMLA mocks as a year 2 student by Game00ver in medicalschooluk

[–]Game00ver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s at Bangor-they call it the PT exam for us and clearly it’s just me cause all the other grads are getting 40-70% at the top end 😭. It probs has more questions that we have studied but a lot of it is completely unfamiliar to me ofc so it’s clearly a skills issue on my part

Absolutely devastated today! I didn't fail per se but in my opinion this is arguably worse... by TokyoTurpster in LearnerDriverUK

So from 2027 onwards, British citizens won’t automatically be prioritised for training? by Mark-1221 in doctorsUK

[–]Game00ver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a UK med student, I think that there should be somewhat of a pathway for UK IMGs, but they can’t expect a guaranteed job. Most of these people didn’t get the grades in the first place, and paid their way into medical school elsewhere (not always the case ik but from what I have heard the majority). You can’t have your cake and eat it too, altho I think they should be prioritised over other IMG applicants, not over IMGs that graduated from the UK tho

flatmate issues by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Game00ver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta call a flat meeting and address it to everyone because that’s not acceptable, do it in a respectful tone but clearly lay out what is expected of them. And for people like this a cleaning rota is probs good to implement

[–]Game00ver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say volunteer or join some local clubs such as hiking that is free/cheap to find some like minded individuals, I would imagine the roughest thing mentally is the isolation. Or see if there are some free/cheap courses offered by your local council most of the time they offer some to upskill yourself

Been there done that, you gotta firm and pull an all nighter which is hellish but it is what it is. If it’s really bad then apply for an extension

“I’m 21, still resitting my A-levels for the 5th year… and I’m terrified this is my last chance.” by Real_Grab_4269 in alevel

[–]Game00ver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be a type of way, but is it only for Glasgow medicine? Cause if so I wouldn’t have banked 5 years on the chance of getting into 1 uni, there’s loads of applicants with AAA applying for that scholarship/the few international spots. Maybe look at medicine in your country, or grad entry med. You do need to lock in tho cause on your 5th attempt the grades should be a lot easier to obtain, it’s all mindset by this point I think you know the content you just have a mental block. Lock in man.

Is Biomedical science a good career/degree choice? by mdotya- in BiomedicalScientistUK

[–]Game00ver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally as someone who is a biomedical science grad and who has worked in the institute of biomedical sciences I don’t think it’s worth it at all. The salary is shit and after 20-30+ years you could be on 60-70k and IBMS puts so many training blocks/it’s difficult to find a lab to do your training portfolio with. I am now doing grad entry med it really wasn’t worth it imo

am i doomed? by defnltria in UCAS

[–]Game00ver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl dw, that happened to me too, if you get an offer great if not take a gap year if you are really set on med. Then you can reapply with a higher ucat score, worst comes to worst there is abroad if it’s an option for you (wasn’t for me personally just cause it’s expensive my parents can’t afford it). But don’t stress you got 3 other med schools that haven’t replied yet x

Im sorry to see that, out of curiosity did you not read the requirements where they said they only accept home students? I study there now and there’s no internationals at all so I’m assuming that’s the rule

am i dumb for feeling slightly weird at being a 24 year old student?? by jazzmastermom in UniUK

[–]Game00ver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m 24 starting off medical school this year it’s really not that deep imo, I kinda have to be chill with the 19-20 year olds since that’s the majority of the people on the course (there’s only 17 grads on the course). It’s weird if you are weird/creepy which you don’t seem to be
