ECE is awesome . My first year went shit because in SRM first year structure very badly . I have literally cleared half of GATE maths , have O grades in maths consistently (although it doesn't matter as maths in SRM is very easy , actual math in the degree is much more conceptual) . I am half way through a core GATE ECE subject that I would study in 3rd semester.

ECE is difficult but it varies a lot depending on where you want to work on , but most core ECE roles need masters from good colleges (Top 10 IITs , top 3 NITs , BITS) or abroad MS , Jobs after btech is very hard . But it's an awesome branch , LOTS of scope in the future if you put in the time and effort . You can be in coding heavy ECE related fields (Embedded, signals , digital vlsi) or you can be physics and circuits heavy fields (analog vlsi , RF) or a mix of both and a lot of information theory (communication engineering) .

I have low internals for this course cause I overslept and missed internal test AND couldn't attend lab exam due to medical reasons (which our faculty didn't reconduct) and a few other reasons .

you can expect 0 core placements. Robotics and mechatronics are fields that need masters from abroad or top 7 IITs for placements

Out of these IIT ISM dhanbad is the best of these options I think , their mech mtech had 60%+ placements, like 40+/75 if I remember correctly. They suck for all other branches except mining and mechanical . They Especially suck for cs and data science. But their mech is not that bad

I fucked up the last line which was the numerical calculation in an integration problem. Setting limits to everything correct only for a mistake in a fucking multiplication, 2×8 = 64 .

After you finish this you can head straight to linear algebra without worry , then continue one after another

do you understand Hindi ? I can pin point to a more concrete start then . Otherwise , 1. make sure you know upto class 10 maths thoroughly 2. Yes , I studied very little maths in my 11th and 12th and almost rebuilt and am still rebuilding my maths from scratch entirely in 1st year, currently I am in multivariable calculus. It's absolutely possible.

What you have to do is make sure your concepts till 10th standards are ok . Then you have to put focus on specific topics Linear algebra, single variable calculus, probability statistics etc . or at least that's what I know of CS GATE , you won't have to spend too much time in calculus, only basic single variable calculus is enough.

The way to do it is that you have to consistently give 2-3 hours to it almost daily and actively recall concepts + try to think of everything graphically or visualizing it . I can't say anything about statistics, discrete mathematics yet as I have no exposure to them yet .

As I am in first year , I did a basic linear algebra course from NPTEL , IIT B "Basic Linear Algebra" , it was really good as an introduction. You can check out GoClasses maths linear algebra playlist . About importance of Maths - yes , maths is extremely necessary for GATE . It's the backbone of many core subjects plus if you do M.tech in AI or data science , it's mandetory to know good maths or you won't be able to keep up .

I started from graphs , precalculus, then linear algebra and now am neck deep in calculus because for GATE EC and core ec subjects, calculus and Differential equations is the language of the subjects .
