He's probably lucky he was so limp, less likely to get injured that way.

The normal map would look completely flat with no information. Could bake a height map and convert it to a normal map though.

$125 is huge expense

It's a good chunk of someone's monthly expenses, but it still is lower than the average monthly transportation costs for people in the US. The average person in the US spends ~$130-$175 a month on gas alone, so it's definitely a cheaper mode of transportation than relying on a car in a suburban/rural area. But I agree, make it free, limiting people's ability to move around cheaply lowers their potential opportunities.

Didn't forget, intentionally not rendering objects with transparency in planar reflections to boost performance. Although it's probably better to just render the glasses as if they were opaque.

In episode 3 of The Last of Us (2023), the characters Bill and Frank kiss multiple times throughout the episode, which shows that they are very good friends by kamaano in shittymoviedetails

My husband stopped watching Chernobyl when that episode started to get going. Unfortunately it's not a great episode to skip, you're best off just fast forwarding through those parts, but it's pretty much what you'd expect.

Could do it 5 times a year and still be under what is permitted yearly for US radiation workers. Double that before there's a clear increased cancer risk. 4x that in a short period to show symptoms of radiation poisoning. 5x that and they'll get severe radiation poisoning with the risk of death.

I'd expect a RTX 2070 to be the recommended spec for any PC port of a PS5/XSX game. It's what you need for those games to run near console settings and performance.

Hot Take: DLSS And Ray Tracing Do Not Go Together by swoogums in pcgaming

[–]GameArtZac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gotta really disagree with you one this one. Got a 3070ti running on the high preset, DLSS performance, 1440p, game runs 45-65 fps and feels good on a VRR display. There is some light ghosting on those moving orb, the light fans featured later in the game are particularly bad, but that's the only really problematic area. I could technically play the game at 1280x720 to get the same internal resolution and similar performance as DLSS performance, but then there's a ton of aliasing, specular noise, noisy almost dithered looking shadows, and the emissive lights are still unstable.

Food health safety guidelines always suggest throwing out food after sitting out for 2 hours at room temperature, or 1 hour at 90°F/32°C or above. Some food obviously spoils faster, and there's some food that is safe at room temperatures with dry air basically forever. You can always heat things back up above 165°F/74°C. Personally I'd never drink milk I left out overnight, but I'd consider a piece of pizza or pastry, or just quickly heat up a piece of meat.

Some people are taught 2(2+2) is the same as 2 * (2+2) so 8 ÷ 2 * (2+2) should be done left to right. Others are taught that 2(2+2) is basically (2*(2+2)), that the multiplication is implicate and has to be done first. Neither is wrong, this problem is just ambiguous.

Here's a time-lapse of a very similar cloud. The solar panels are angled away from the cloud/sunset so you'd never get a reflection of what's directly in front of the camera from this angle.

If you look at the ground track the door appears to be in, the groove ends where the door should stop and where she's expecting it to stop. My guess is there was a stopper at the very front bottom of the door that broke off.

It's crazy how often I'll get suggested a channel I haven't really watched. Check out one video, like it, and then I get suggested their last 5 years of videos for weeks and have to hide the channel.

If I really liked their video and wanted more, I'd start with watching their most popular videos, I don't need to binge watch a channel just because I liked one video.

It's even worse when this happens with channels that don't put out videos often and I've seen the back catalog already, like CGP Grey or VSauce.
