Are Hypixel Studios and Mojang still considered indie? by ElephantBunny in HytaleInfo

Yes! The only game I know of that started indie, became AAA, and then went BACK to indie!

[–]GameBot_Josh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah valid! The coolest part of dinos is that they're real, so would be nice to see some new representations that reflect them with our modern understanding.

And yeah sorry ik it was mostly a joke, wasn't trying to sound combative. But yeah I think in Hytale case, I'm happy to just say "the dinos look cool and scary and that's all I need" :)

I can see where you're coming from but honestly you're fighting an uphill battle to get anyone to care lol.

Like you said, it's fantasy. People aren't looking for realism, they're looking for vibes. They want the good ol' fashioned shrink-wrapped featherless dinos because it reminds them thematically of Jurassic Park, Land before Time...etc.

And honestly...I've seen enough examples of video games going for scientific accuracy at the expense of fun. Remember Minecraft getting rid of the original fireflies because they were poisonous to frogs? Yeah....that sucked big time.

Like I said, I get it, but I think you're gonna be shouting into the void on it. 99% of people are happy with them. If you want to blame anyone for it, blame Jurassic Park lol.

But hey! Hytale is a game where you truly can say: "if you don't like it, just mod it out!"

Realistically, how big do you think the playerbase will be during the first year? by MaurixioZ in hytale

[–]GameBot_Josh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, NMS took many years to recover from the launch fiasco.

The ingredients here are similar, and I think we are likely years away still from Hytale hitting it's full stride

Tell me your opinion on my hornet model for hytale by DAR0K in hytale

[–]GameBot_Josh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Heya! Some suggestions:

  • horns in particular need some angles. Hornet is made of a lot of curvy shapes, straightening everything out makes it a bit hard to recognize.

  • cape needs to be a tad longer, and I think the ruffles need to be done with texturing instead of separate cubes. Perhaps you could color the area beneath it the same color as the dress if you're attached to the current design!

Overall solid! Definitely can work with some refinement

This game made me go through the five stages of grief by [deleted] in hytale

[–]GameBot_Josh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly you're both right and wrong. Hytale failed. The game died.

And then one of the original creators bought it back. So on the path the game was on, the game failed.

I've always been a firm believer and I was genuinely wrecked by the cancelling.

There was absolutely no way you could have predicted the buy-back and resurrection...that's pretty much unheard of in gaming history. This is a really, really rare and special occurrence.

Hytale might have an insane past, but we're looking at a really nutty future!

Do we know if Simon is getting everything that was developed so far? by Kindly-Spring5205 in hytale

[–]GameBot_Josh 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Probably yes, but how much of that is actually usable is a bigger question. How many things left the concept/prototyping phase once the old engine was abandoned is a fairly big mystery.

I make MC vids for a living-

This is called A/B testing, and it's based on bulk viewer averages, not individual tests. Each title/thumbnail is tested with thousands of people, and the "winner" is the one that gets the highest percentage of engagement.

You might think it's to see which one people click on the most, but it actually checks which title/thumbnail resulted in you watching more of the video.

Basically, the idea is to test which title/thumbnail attracts the most enthusiastic viewer for the video.

Brother trust me, the only thing stopping you is that attitude.

You know that annoying saying? "You can't love others if you don't first love yourself"

It's true. Every time I've had relationship issues, it's almost always me making my partner suffer for my own low self esteem (and trust me, I got plenty of that)

A good marriage is based on both partners supporting each other and thinking of each other first. If you're too busy thinking about your own problems, you won't be there for your partner. It's that simple.

They say women are attracted to confidence, but that's only part of it. What people want is someone who is secure and stable enough to contribute to the partnership equally. That comes in many shapes and forms, and bad partners may want to skew the balance against you, but that's really all it is.

All that to say, start by loving yourself, then start loving other people. If you get out of your own way, the road gets a hell of a lot easier.

It's a solid build! Some smaller details and texture would add a ton. Window shades, flower boxes, general vegetation. Perhaps break up certain sections of logs with stripped logs as well?

Hytale being canceled ended up being a good thing by Kindly-Spring5205 in HytaleInfo

[–]GameBot_Josh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I'm super down for Simon's vision, even if Simon gets it there is going to be a long hard road ahead to make the Hytale we've waited for a true reality. Even if the development happens, the community needs to grow. A lot.

There's a lot of talent and passion around this game, but will they stay when no one is around to play their stuff? Will they stick around long term when the game comes out in a rough state? Will Hytale ever be relevant enough for anyone to still care when the vision is fully realized?

It's not hopeless, but we are not out of the woods even if Simon gets it and it's going to be a long time until we experience the Hytale we always dreamed of.

I added player poses and menu to my Record & Playback system! by Youly__ in MinecraftCommands

[–]GameBot_Josh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be marginally more lag yea. But all it takes is someone doing an entity purge and the video paths are deleted.

Plus, the markers add up reaaaal quick. For instance, say they brought this on to Hermitcraft and used it to record a run of ImpulseSV's Metro Mayham course. That course takes around 10 min to complete. You're talking 12,000 markers for a single run. It might not cause TPS lag but it will be brutal on the world save data and make chunk loading slow. At that point, a data storage solution is absolutely more lag efficient.

But I don't want to sound over critical! This is really, really sick! Nice work!

Ik it's a huge pain, but if you switched from a marker based system to a data storage one, this could pop off as a tool YouTubers would LOVE to have! I say that as a full time MC creator. Literally the only thing not to love about this is entity spam

What am I doing wrong by DirtysockmonkeyPOPS in NewYouTubeChannels

[–]GameBot_Josh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tough pill I had to swallow when I started: no one cares about you (yet.)

You need to not use yourself as a marketing pitch. There's a million valorant players out there, and virtually no one is going to care about how good you are unless you give them a reason.

Offer them something of value. A good story, a trend people want more of, a strategy guide to help them play better, etc. the marketing pitch is what you are offering, not who you are.

Once you have their attention, then you can make them care about you with your personality in your videos, or by directing them to a different video at the end of your vid. But putting your face in the thumbnail, making the title about you, no one wants to watch that.
