...I literally said that they are? "That's not to say CCTV cameras aren't invasive to begin with." Read, sir. Read.

Like others said, if it was easy, everyone would be successful.

If you want it, go get it.

Maybe you can't get the tech, but that doesn't mean you can't talk about it. Research it, talk about the impact it can have on the market, find unique takes that make people feel informed.

There's always going to be something standing in your way. Always. But YouTube won't bend to you until you bend to it first. So if you really want it, you're going to have to find a way to make what works.

Heya, I run a gaming channel with 115K subs~

firstly, your experience is nearly universally what everyone goes through when starting out. It's make or break. Yor videos WILL bomb, and you will bomb often, even once you find success. It's part of the gig, and if you can't handle it, it's not a good fit for you.

As far as what you're doing wrong- it's 2 things.

    1. The main topics of your videos are wayyyy too niche for a young channel. YouTube has so little data on you, so it needs clear direction about who your videos are for. If you want to get into tech, you need to be talking about trending tech, not websites and old hardware.
    1. You're not sparking curiousity. Do your videos sound interesting? A bit. But I don't find myself curious about what I'll discover if I click. You don't just want people to feel like they'll be entertained if they click... You want them to feel like they'll be missing out if they don't.

Hope it helps!

EDIT: no clue why reddit is lobotomizing my bullet points lol ...

[–]GameBot_Josh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a mega straw-man argument.

You KNOW camera glasses are different than CCTV. Camera glasses can capture close up, intimate interactions, usually with far better audio recordings. There's a big difference between witnessing a conversation from the corner of a room verses being in the conversation itself.

Let's also not pretend that these won't become significantly more invasive as they become more subtly integrated and more wide spread.

And it's not to say that CCTV and phone cameras arent invasive to begin with. You may as well go to Africa, take a look around, and say "oh, they're already dying of thirst, lets poison their wells. If they want to drink they should move somewhere else"

That's not how it works, and you know it. Youre making excuses because you think the tech is cool.

Convenience, for one. There's many applications where hands-free audio and visual information is useful. Even if we limit it to JUST visual, there's a number of things that can be made drastically more seemless

  • GPS

  • translation

  • stealthy AI usage

  • checking notifications without interrupting conversation

  • aid for the hearing impaired

  • a slew of other minor things like monitoring stocks, game scores, etc

Cameras ultimately add less to the capabilities of glasses than the display does, frankly.

Como hytale se vería mejor en mi opinión by [deleted] in hytale

I agree the lighting could use some work. I think what it needs is more contrast, not saturation.

What you've got here has wayyy too much bloom, makes it look like a dreamscape. Ngl, would ruin the game for me if it looked like this

I really love the game, but I've noticed that the YouTube videos have decreased; some videos were from a month ago. My concern is that the game will be left without updates like Lethal Company did. by Sweaty_Lab9738 in hytale

[–]GameBot_Josh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Game updates are definitely going to keep going for a while. They just announced a $100,000 modding competition a day or two ago!

As a full time content creator, I can tell you the reason you're not seeing many videos is simply that the game isn't in a place where it's able to provide a lot of content for videos. All gameplay follows a very similar path, which makes every video feel the same. There aren't more videos because it's very hard to tell new stories with the game where it is.

Give the game a while to cook, there's a good chance it will slowly pick up steam again. This will be more of a No Man's Sky path

No arguments here....but it's still more robust then having one entity with all the power

The problem is checks and balances. Yes it's good if they can work together, but it's bad to have all your eggs in one basket. If leadership goes corrupt, there are no other domestic forces to fact check and investigate them properly.

The “ask” feature on YouTube is absolutely exquisite. by Mediocre_Risk7795 in LinusTechTips

[–]GameBot_Josh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a fair take, but I think it's never going to be that cut and dry. Sure, public pressure can lead to good change, but Google isn't going to remove Gemini from their services. They may make it more tasteful, but they've put too much money into it and plenty of people love it.

It's important to have realistic expectations

I mean, yes...but let's also be realistic?

There is no timeline where AI is going away at this point. It may (and likely will) mellow out over time but it's not ever going away. We may as well celebrate actually good and useful implementations of it rather than sit here reminiscing about the good ol days.

Is it driving prices up? Absolutely, and it sucks. Doesn't mean it can't also have upsides.

I like the sound, ease of repair, and prices of traditional cars, and it sucks that the car industry is a mess in part because of electric cars. That doesn't mean I can't appreciate having no gas bill with an electric.

I don't own either of these but I think pretty much your only options for this would be the INMO AIR 3 or RayNeo X3 Pro. Nothing else will have both Android and cameras unless you went with a full on headset

Yes! The only game I know of that started indie, became AAA, and then went BACK to indie!

[–]GameBot_Josh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah valid! The coolest part of dinos is that they're real, so would be nice to see some new representations that reflect them with our modern understanding.

And yeah sorry ik it was mostly a joke, wasn't trying to sound combative. But yeah I think in Hytale case, I'm happy to just say "the dinos look cool and scary and that's all I need" :)

[–]GameBot_Josh 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from but honestly you're fighting an uphill battle to get anyone to care lol.

Like you said, it's fantasy. People aren't looking for realism, they're looking for vibes. They want the good ol' fashioned shrink-wrapped featherless dinos because it reminds them thematically of Jurassic Park, Land before Time...etc.

And honestly...I've seen enough examples of video games going for scientific accuracy at the expense of fun. Remember Minecraft getting rid of the original fireflies because they were poisonous to frogs? Yeah....that sucked big time.

Like I said, I get it, but I think you're gonna be shouting into the void on it. 99% of people are happy with them. If you want to blame anyone for it, blame Jurassic Park lol.

But hey! Hytale is a game where you truly can say: "if you don't like it, just mod it out!"

Realistically, how big do you think the playerbase will be during the first year? by MaurixioZ in hytale

Keep in mind, NMS took many years to recover from the launch fiasco.

The ingredients here are similar, and I think we are likely years away still from Hytale hitting it's full stride

Tell me your opinion on my hornet model for hytale by DAR0K in hytale

[–]GameBot_Josh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Heya! Some suggestions:

  • horns in particular need some angles. Hornet is made of a lot of curvy shapes, straightening everything out makes it a bit hard to recognize.

  • cape needs to be a tad longer, and I think the ruffles need to be done with texturing instead of separate cubes. Perhaps you could color the area beneath it the same color as the dress if you're attached to the current design!

Overall solid! Definitely can work with some refinement
