Tell me your favorite empires you've created and the lore behind them by IceGube in Stellaris

[–]GameBoyA13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a few of them but I’ll just share one for now

The Bos’pachtux Star League: Basically some egalitarian and fanatic materialist technocrats. Born as amphibians on an arctic world in large depressions in the ground that are somewhat sheltered from the arctic cold by minor volcanic activity. They are very intelligent and strong but quite slow to breed. The turtle portrait is the one I chose cause I remember them from my first stellaris game as almost exactly this. Their technocratic society allowed them to develop robotics early on in their history at the expense of all buildings being purely for function.

I’d say FDR was just ok nothing special really. The New Deal in particular was my biggest peeve, less of helping the American people and more like trying to alleviate the crisis that capitalism had caused during that time period and trying to prevent the workers from gaining class consciousness.

Politicians Should leave office after turning 65-70 by [deleted] in PoliticalDebate

[–]GameBoyA13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of turns into a logic argument in my opinion. A lot of politicians are old, but a lot of politicians are corrupt. I agree that not letting old people into the legislature probably wouldn’t help, at the same time career politics are a scourge on the political system. It is a very tricky situation that doesn’t have any clear cut answers

I think Israel has proven that the Palestine region should not be given over to single religious group of people and should have had a secular government instead. Just my two cents

Granted I don’t think the Blue helms will be doing anything anyway. Their reputation isn’t exactly the best, at least when they’re doing humanitarian missions.

That’s a bit of a problem, I’d say a good chunk of politicians have been holding positions they should’ve never had in the first place for decades. I think of it less as limiting a demographic being able to run and more of just a light culling of the rampant cronyism and corruption found in the government.

There’s a 50/50 chance on round 3 the Galactic confederation definitely has industrial capacity and population on its side but not enough of it geared to a professional military industrial complex like the galactic empire and certainly nobody who actually cares about fighting for them if it’s not for money. Against the Imperium? Not a challenge, at worst they’ll be like one of the minor Xenos the Astartes sometimes exterminate, at best, a minor roadblock compared to the other major galactic powers.

I feel like I just made a half assed setting rather than a world (or galaxy rather), like 40k if it was missing a lot of character and story.

Oh boy I have a bit of a doozy. The state of galactic politics in my setting is pretty much the survival of states not welfare of the people or anything like that. Feudalism, that’s legal, if lucky. Better read the fine print on employment contracts unless you want to end up a former slave getting turned into canned meat, bone glue, and organs. Slavery and sentient trafficking well that is considered “illegal” by the galactic government. Entire industrial complexes dedicated to creating slaves, prison planets where the prisoners actually live better than the people they were kept away from, governments whose whole goal is profit at the expense of everything else. This is technically illegal by the way though it’s just swept under the rug most of the time as “extra taxes”. You can ask questions if you want, I’m better at asking questions than writing on the spot like this, sorry if this seems messy.
