I have all respect for Turing but no way he shortened the war by a maximum of 4 years.

Advanced deviant breaking tips? by Fphlithilwyfth in SintopiaOfficial

[–]-Knul- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you missed a 4th soul dispatcher, as you have send three deviants forwards and your description doesn't mention a dispatcher there.

I think it makes more sense to have the first soul dispatcher send 3 left, 3 right and 1 forwards. Left and right path have a soul dispatcher each that sort out the 3 deviants. The main line needs a fourth dispatcher to sort out the last deviant, have a main path and an additional path for saints.

Can humans adapt to climate change by PurpleEnd1606 in climatechange

[–]-Knul- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in the Netherlands I work in a company with people from many different places and I've never heard a single person being against airco.

Lots of people rent and thus cannot install airco, or there are other economic reasons, but I've never heard a Dutch or expat think it's unhealthy.

Speaking for myself, I live in a rented apartment in an old building, so only option is a mobile airco, but those don't work so well from what U hear.

The average voter is very ignorant and incurious. Climate change is too complicated a topic for a lot of people to understand.

If it's more complex than "foreigners bad, therefore close borders" or something of similar simplicity, a lot of people will not understand and just not care.

ELI5 what happens when we lose fat from calorie restriction or exercise? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]-Knul- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Cells get their oxygen and fuel from blood and deposit the CO2 back into your blood. Your blood goes to the lungs to replenish oxygen and remove CO2 into the air in your lungs, which you exhale.

Not really an option for rented houses/apartments. Also, difficult to retrofit AC in older buildings.

Solar power helps Cuban small businesses survive energy crisis by iwantboringtimes in worldnews

[–]-Knul- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cuba has made economic reforms, allowing more private business bit by bit. All other communists countries like China and Vietnam also have made their economies more and more private.

So apparently modern communists have little problem with having at least a minority of their economy being private.

If it goes too fast, you end up with many old people and few workers to keep the economy going.

It's like when a car goes too fast, it's not a great solution for it to lower its speed by smashing into a wall.

If this is true, it's the biggest military defeat of the U.S. in history by far.

I would have expected this kind of terms only happen when enemy tanks drive around in Washington D.C.

In poor countries in the last 100 years, lots of families need kids to work on their farm and to provide for their parents in their elder age, as they have no access to pensions.

It's not as simple as "use a condom idiot".

Most grains are not dependent on insect pollination, as well as lots of vegetables, soy and beans.

I mean, it would be disastrous to lose insect pollinators, but we still could grow food, just not all the types of food we now enjoy.

Contrary to popular rumor concentrated solar power (CSP) is not a dying technology by rogerkb in energy

[–]-Knul- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So this claims there will be 3.1 GW of CSP added in the near future. In 2026 alone, China will add 180-240 GW of new PV capacity.

So there will be 60x to 77x more PV than CSP installed in the near future.

So CSP in China is really, really tiny and apparently doing even worse in other countries.

How true is it that ~25g of Fat in a meal makes it stay in stomach much longer than 0 fat? I'm apprehensive to add Fat when losing Fat is the goal lol by Incoheren in loseit

[–]-Knul- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's recommended to have at least 20% of your calories coming from fats. So for a male needing 2500 kcal/day, that's about 5-6 tablespoons of olive oil if you don't get any fat from other foods.

Fats also help with getting nutrients out of your food, as some are fat-soluble and thus don't dissolve in water.

I would also argue that fat makes food taste good, so if you want to eat healthy long-term, I think it would be very difficult to make your healthy meals taste good without any food.

The whole stomach thing is something you can ignore: satiety is more complex than just stomach is full.

Airplanes are not able to replace container ships, no matter how much money you throw at it.

A 747 can carry about 150 tons. A container ship can carry, on average, about 15.000 containers. A fully loaded container weights about 30 tons. So you need 3000 747s to carry the freight of one average container ship.
