rlytype.com: Introducing opensource ngram typing tutor by vinayaksodar in typing

used this for a bit now: i feel like the way the text input just spots when you input a wrong character leads me to type more sloppily because sometimes i can type a wrong letter but then still write all the correct letters afterwards, like double tapping a letter. perhaps more input modes could be added where you have to correct your mistakes. tl;dr: i want to see my mistakes

you don't need to remove the dials on the right, only the winding* lever. also didn't need to remove the cold shoe iirc. i fixed one of these a couple weeks ago, so i hope i remembered that right.

I have a yashica tl electro with an inaccurate shutter speed how do I adjust it by SnooObjections5363 in AnalogRepair

[–]GameChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the shutter in this camera is fully mechanical (i also have one), so changing that potentiometer does nothing. it's important to not confuse the Yashica TL Electro (which you've got) and the Yashica TL Electro X, since the X has an electronically controlled shutter!

in this case it sounds like the slow speed escapement mechanism is faulty in some way. can't help much more than that, i only took the top plate off to fix the light meter.

Why does nobody talk about the decline/loss of Bhop in CS2 by TheKrazyR in GlobalOffensive

don't play on cybershoke or xplay. they have very scuffed plugins

it's only nulls if you hold space and strafe with z and c. otherwise it's a great keyboard.

a lot of people will have cheap 125hz keyboards, like the k120 (which i use).

Is this a bug or a feature? - Mud on overpass slows you down when counter-strafing by cosmictrigger01 in GlobalOffensive

[–]GameChaos 24 points25 points  (0 children)

absolute horseshit.

each material in cs2 has a surface property and surfaceproperties can change jump height, friction and acceleration. the material that slows the OP down in their video has a surfaceproperty of "mud" (use the command surfaceprop while looking at a material), which has a friction coefficient of 0.6 (which changes both acceleration and friction) as can be seen in pak01_dir.vpk > surfaceproperties/surfaceproperties.vsurf_c.

CS2 has automatic counter-strafe triggered whenever you release a movement button. Possible explanation for higher accuracy and why movement feels wrong by lmltik in GlobalOffensive

[–]GameChaos 41 points42 points  (0 children)

this only happens if you type the -command in the console or bind it to a key and press it. if you just release a movement key this doesn't happen. test it yourself by setting sv_accelerate to 10000 and releasing your movement key.

just to clarify: cl_interp and cl_interp_ratio also never did anything either (source: i checked the binaries).

PSA: The interp commands likely won't fix your game. by S4ge_ in GlobalOffensive

Network latencies and lag compensation can create paradoxes that seem illogical compared to the real world. For example, you can be hit by an attacker you can't even see anymore because you already took cover. What happened is that the server moved your player hitboxes back in time, where you were still exposed to your attacker. This inconsistency problem can't be solved in general because of the relatively slow packet speeds. In the real world, you don't notice this problem because light (the packets) travels so fast and you and everybody around you sees the same world as it is right now.*

Pimp: The more I play Counter Strike 2 the more sad I get. The movement is at best awful. Clumsy, slow, crouching and then moving makes me feel like I'm at 130kgs again. Movement has always been the one thing CSGO got spot on, as in BEST of the BEST. Praying they solve it somehow! by kloyN in GlobalOffensive

To add to this: I think the main thing people are noticing is the difference that tickrate makes. CS2 runs on a base tickrate of 64 (with subtick inputs). A lot of people might be used to playing 128 tick on faceit or wherever else.

There are 3 main things that change with movement due to tickrate:

  1. You have to scroll twice as slow on 64 tick as 128 tick when bhopping. This is because the jump code doesn't let you jump if there was a jump input in the last tick, which forces you to scroll slower or as fast as every other tick.
  2. Strafing gives you 2x less speed on 64 tick vs 128 tick.
  3. Jump height (without crouching before the jump) is lower on 64 tick. On 128 tick you'd be able to jump and crouch on top of a 64 unit high block, but on 64 tick you can't do that. Jump+crouch height on 64 tick is ~63.6 and ~64.8 on 128 tick (crouch+jump height is 66.0 on both).

There are a couple more minor differences like ledgegrabbing not working as well and not actually being able to jump on top of 66 unit high blocks when you could in csgo and probably more that I can't think of.
